Newly Elected MPs Sworn into Parliament
The newly elected Members of Parliament for Porgera-Paela and Aitape Lumi were sworn in today at Parliament, marking a significant milestone in Papua New Guinea's governance.
The swearing-in ceremony was officiated by Speaker Job Pomat and Parliament Clerk Kala Aufa
The ceremony was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Pangu Party Leader and Prime Minister James Marape, URP Party Leader and Minister for State Owned Enterprises William Duma, and other members of Parliament.
The new MPs will now take their seats in Parliament on September 02nd when Parliment resumes.
From then on, they will part of the MPs who will contribute to the country's legislative process.
The swearing-in ceremony is an important step in ensuring the smooth functioning of Parliament and the representation of the people.
Mise was under the URP party under the stewardship of Duma when he won the by-election while Karipe was an Independent Candidate when he was declared the winner in by-election in early this month.
However, Prime Minister James Marape said he was happy to welcome Karipe into the government side to work the his team to complete the task that his late father Maso Karipe left when he passed on.
During the Swearing in, PM Marape give his full assurance to the young MP and also to the people of Porgera -Paela that his government will now work closely with the new MP to complete all incomplete task including the CDA..
" I am happy to welcome young Karipe to Government rank to work closely with me and my team," Marape said.
New MP Gidron Maso Karipe said he is still a an independent candidate but he is happy to work with PM and his team.
Karipa said he hasn't decided which political party to join but he will travel up to Porgera tomorrow and get his people's view as to which Party he would join.
