Israel just bombed Iranās capital ā and Trump says itās already ātoo lateā for peace talks.
In the past four days, the US and Israel have launched a massive wave of airstrikes on Iran, hitting military bases, government compounds, and key sites in Tehran and other cities. Israeli jets reportedly dropped hundreds of bombs on targets linked to Iranās security and leadership, while the US joined in with longārange strikes aimed at crippling Iranās defenses.
Iran has fired back with missiles and drones targeting US bases, embassies, and energy infrastructure across the region, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is claiming the Strait of Hormuz is now āclosedā ā a move that could shake global oil prices and shipping routes. Casualties in Iran are reported in the hundreds, with some counts nearing or passing 700ā800 dead, including senior figures in the countryās leadership and security apparatus.
In the middle of all this, US President Donald Trump is slamming the door on diplomacy. On social media, he said Iranās āair defense, Air Force, Navy, and leadershipā are āgoneā and claimed that Tehran now wants to talk ā but he responded, āToo late!ā making it clear he has no interest in negotiations right now. He has also bragged that the US has more than enough advanced weapons to keep hitting Iran for as long as needed.
The fighting isnāt only inside Iran. Israel is hitting Lebanon hard, striking Hezbollah positions and expanding operations on the ground, raising fears this could explode into a full regional war touching Lebanon, the Gulf, and beyond. Meanwhile, the US has shut or scaled back embassies in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and other parts of the Middle East, urging citizens to leave as the situation becomes more dangerous by the hour.
Right now, Trumpās ātoo lateā message suggests Washington is focused on weakening Iranās military and leadership rather than pursuing a ceasefire or peace talks ā at least in the short term. For millions of civilians across the region, that means more fear, more uncertainty, and no clear offāramp from a war that could easily spread even further.
