My Story – A Student’s Cry for Justice

I’m a Grade 12 student at Kagua Secondary School, and I want to share my story.😢😭

At the start of Term 2, I lost my sister and was away from school for her funeral. When I came back, I was already behind in classwork and tests. I went to see the Deputy Principal, Mr. G. Kunduiri, hoping to explain and get some help, but instead I was ignored.😢

Not long after, I was removed from the dormitory and banned from eating at the mess — no warning, no proper discipline, just punishment. I went three days without food. On the fourth day, I was so hungry that I went to the mess, but Mr. Lombai poured out my rice in front of everyone and chased me away.😢

Even then, I tried to do the right thing. That night, I went to Mr. Lombai to apologize, but he shouted at me and chased me away. Later, I was explaining my side of the story to another teacher when Mr. Lombai came back and punched me several times. That’s when I defended myself — because I was scared and hurt.

The next day, my friends tried to help by bringing food from the mess while I waited outside. But again, Mr. Lombai found me, slapped me, and this time the Deputy Principal called the police. The teachers and police beat me, forced me into the school bus, and even threw me into dirty water near the market, telling me to wash myself and drink it. I was locked in the cell overnight.

When the students heard what happened, they stood up for me. They went on strike, marched to the police station, and demanded my release. That night, the boys’ dorm stayed up crying and mourning for what I went through.

Now, on top of all this, I’ve been given a forced transfer right before my final Grade 12 exams — all because I was grieving, hungry, and asking for help.

I’m not a violent or bad student. I was going through a hard time, and instead of help, I was punished and beaten.

I am asking for justice — not just for myself, but for every student who might face the same mistreatment.
