A NEW TREND OF PUBLIC SCHOOL FEE BEGGING

During our time, if we needed help with school fees, we approached relatives quietly. We made phone calls. We swallowed our pride. We knocked on doors or We worked hard ourselves. We did not post our acceptance letters on social media asking the entire public to fund our responsibilities.
Now, it is becoming a trend.
I have personally seen three students recently accepted into different tertiary institutions publicly posting their admission letters and asking strangers to pay their fees. This is not something to celebrate. It is a dangerous culture forming right before our eyes.

This must stop!
We are not helping them, we are teaching them to be lazy!

🚨 PUBLIC NOTICE | CONSUMER ALERT 🚨

Charging customers a fee for EFTPOS cash back is illegal in Papua New Guinea. The Independent Consumer & Competition Commission (ICCC) has confirmed that shops are NOT allowed to charge any extra fees when customers withdraw cash using EFTPOS machines.

Banks do not charge merchants for EFTPOS cash back, and any additional fees imposed by shops are unauthorised and a breach of merchant agreements. This practice is unfair to consumers and must stop.

📢 What you should do:
If a shop charges you for EFTPOS cash back, do not accept it. Report the business so the matter can be investigated and action taken.
