Mirigini Member resorts to addressing water woes.
______

Hon Nao Boge, thru the assistance of AusAid, have procured 4 x 5,000L Tuffa Tanks with accessories to address the water issues at Mirigini.

Our Team Butu advisors will meet to identify the most needy and priority areas/sections to set up the tanks.

Tanks will be filled by water carts or when supply runs..

Once water supply is restored, the tanks will serve as reservoirs for later use.

Despite MKA Electoral Accounts not yet ready yet, we can not sit back and complain about our water woes.

Installations and set up to commence next week once all is delivered.

Endorsed by Hon. Nao G. Boge.

Pangu-led Marape Government secures legal land titles for over 20,000 residents of Makana Morobe Block, 9-Mile

More than 20,000 people living in the Makana Morobe Block at 9-Mile, Port Moresby, have received official state-issued land titles under the Settlement to Suburb Transformation Project, the Pangu-led Marape Government announced today.

The titles mark a major milestone in the government’s urban upgrade program, providing legal recognition and security of tenure to families and households across Moresby Northeast. The Settlement to Suburb Transformation Project aims to convert informal settlements into structured, secure, and serviceable suburban communities through land titling, planning, and infrastructure upgrades.

“A secure land title is a life-changing asset for families — it provides certainty, enables investment, and supports broader urban development,” said a government spokesperson. “This achievement reflects the government’s commitment to inclusive urban transformation and to improving the lives of residents in the National Capital District.”

Residents welcomed the move as a long-awaited step toward stability and opportunity. “Having an official land title gives us peace of mind and the confidence to improve our homes and plan for the future,” said a Makana Morobe community representative.

The issuance of titles will pave the way for planned infrastructure improvements, access to basic services, and greater economic activity in the area. The government says follow-up activities will include registration support, community planning sessions, and coordination with service providers to ensure the suburb transition proceeds smoothly.

*** PM MARAPE: FOLLOW THE MONEY TRAIL IN PARAKA SAGA ****

Prime Minister Hon. James Marape has welcomed the conviction of former Deputy Finance Secretary Jacob Yafai, describing it as a reminder that the full truth behind the Paraka saga is yet to be uncovered.

Yafai was found guilty by the National Court in Waigani this week of misappropriating K41.8 million in State funds between 2012 and 2013. Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika ruled that Yafai had abused his powers by approving and releasing payments to Paul Paraka Lawyers without proper verification.

Prime Minister Marape, who testified as a State witness in the case, said the court’s decision was a step forward but also raised further questions.

“It is likely that many individuals, not just Paul Paraka, benefited from this loss of public funds through assets, businesses, land, and transfers both within Papua New Guinea and overseas,” Prime Minister Marape said.

He urged police to go beyond the paper trail and fully trace the flow of money.

“The Paraka matter has been dealt with through the courts on the basis of documents, but the real question is: where did the money go?” he said.

The Prime Minister confirmed that the Finance Inquiry Report will be tabled in Parliament in October, providing a comprehensive account of the scandal and a basis for further action.

“This case should send a clear message to finance officers across the country. We cannot authorise or facilitate illegal payments. We must only pay what is lawfully owed and always follow due process,” Prime Minister Marape stated.

He emphasised that the fight against corruption was not only about prosecuting wrongdoers but also about strengthening systems to prevent future abuse.

“We are negotiating hard to secure greater returns from our natural wealth. But what use is that if the money is lost to corruption?”

“As we approach 50 years of nationhood, let us resolve to protect every toea for the benefit of our people.”
