Mulitaka Landslide — 24 May 2024 🇵🇬💔

A devastating landslide struck Mulitaka, Enga Province, on 24 May 2024, leaving thousands of people affected and families grieving. This video captures the visit of the Hon. Prime Minister James Marape to the affected area on 31 May 2024.

The National Government provided K20 million, while provincial governments, international partners, UN agencies, companies and donor countries also contributed millions of kina and dollars in financial assistance, relief supplies, clean water, food, medicines, tents, sanitation support, technical expertise and other emergency services.

Australia committed A$2.5 million, Japan provided US$2 million in emergency grant aid, Barrick and Zijin contributed US$1 million, Indonesia provided more than K5 million worth of humanitarian supplies, and other local organisations contributed additional financial and material assistance.

Remembering those who lost their lives and acknowledging the many organisations, governments and communities that stood with the people of Mulitaka during their time of need. 🙏🇵🇬
