Young artists take center stage as DFOT 2026 Sining Tanghalan opens
Student talents in arts, culture, and academics took the spotlight as elementary and secondary learners showcased creativity and cultural pride during the opening day of the Division Festival of Talents (DFOT) 2026 Sining Tanghalan on January 21.
From vibrant paintings and expressive performances to original scripts and short films, students transformed contest venues into platforms of artistic expression, reflecting both contemporary creativity and deep respect for Filipino heritage.
Elementary participants competed in events such as Pintahusay, Quartet (Himig Bulilit), and Katutubong Sayaw, while secondary students demonstrated their skills in Sulatanghal, Pintahusay, SineMunti, and LikhAwiTanghal. Each competition highlighted learners’ ability to communicate ideas, emotions, and cultural narratives through various art forms.
Several schools across Abuyog served as venues for the simultaneous contests. Gabaldon Central School hosted literary and music-related events, while visual arts competitions were conducted at Abuyog Central School and Sta. Fe–Sto. Niño Elementary School and songwriting for Likhawitanghal at BV Closa Central School.
Academic excellence was also emphasized as Abuyog National High School held subject-based competitions, including Histopop for Araling Panlipunan, Stemazing for Science, and Number Race for Mathematics, reinforcing the festival’s goal of balancing artistic and academic development.
Capping the day was a Fellowship Night featuring the Katutubong Sayaw (Elementary) category, where students performed indigenous dances that celebrated local traditions, identity, and community values.
Day 1 of DFOT 2026 Sining Tanghalan underscored the role of schools in nurturing well-rounded learners, as students confidently used art, performance, and intellect to express creativity and strengthen cultural appreciation.
