Alangalang is more than just Lingganay!🔔

In our conversation with Hon. Kent Jefflord Guillermo (Guillermo Kent), he debunked the idea that Lingganay Festival is the only thing Alangalang has to offer. From rich traditions to cultural heritage, there’s so much more that we can showcase to the world.

He also emphasized that tourism is not just about ‘parayaw’ (boasting), we are producing quality events and products that bring real impact. By attracting domestic tourists, we provide opportunities for local businesses to thrive, ultimately uplifting the town’s economy.

Principal Mr. Vernon Barraza shared that academic institutions are at the forefront of efforts to sustain Alangalang’s traditions, particularly the Jota de Alangalang, ensuring that these customs continue to thrive for future generations.

“The school plays a significant role in perpetuating and continuing the development of the culture, customs, and traditions of our municipality,” shared Mr. Barraza.

Through education and active participation in cultural initiatives like the Jota de Alangalang, schools serve as bridges that connect the youth to their roots, ensuring that our heritage thrives in the hearts and minds of future generations.

In our interview with Hon. Ketchie Rex Barrantes, he emphasized the vital role of understanding the Lingganay Festival and Jota de Alangalang in shaping the identity of Alangalanganons. According to him, cultivating a sense of ownership over our cultural heritage helps students connect with their roots, fostering pride in our local traditions and values.

“…mapaparamdam natin sa tao the good attitude and the best character the alangalanganons have that we can bring people around the globe here in our town at maparamdam natin sa kanila na this is Alangalang,” Hon. Barrantes shared.
