ALECO addresses power concerns in Albay

The ALBAY Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ALECO) led on Friday a press conference to address concerns on power interruption, billing, and other issues of member-consumer-owners in the province.

ALECO Acting General Manager Engr. Wilfredo O. Bucsit said that the collection efficiency of the ALECO under the National Electrification Authority has increased from 78% on the first month of transition and up to 118% on March.

"Ang binabayaran namin sa NGCP ay nasa P48 million for the month of April. Sa Rapu-Rapu nagbabayad tayo sa NPC - P2 Million rin. Sa power supplier P302.5 million, so ang total is P357.8 Million. Yan ang binabayaran natin monthly dun sa power suppliers," Bucsit said.

The ALECO is also updated in paying its monthly dues.

"Pagdating sa payables natin, kasi every month may binabayaran tayo, up-to-date na tayo ngayon, bayad na tayo, for the month of April halos fully paid na tayo," he said.

In response to frequent power outage concerns, ALECO Technical Services Dept. Manager Engr. Mark Jessan Lucilo said that the cause of frequent power outages are El Niño, broken wires, vegetation and power hotspots.

Bucist said they have intensified apprehensions on rampant illegal connection or the use of 'jumpers,' which is also one of the leading causes of power interruptions.

He added that plans are underway to seek assistance from other cooperatives to conduct clearing operations on interfering vegetations as they lack the needed manpower.

He also noted the need to replace or repair defective distribution lines and transformers.

A case for violation of RA 10175 or the "Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012″ was already filed against an active PNP member before the Regional Trial Court Branch 5, Legazpi City on May 18, 2023, who was caught red-handed of claiming fraudulently loaned money from the PSSLAI.
The entrapment operation was launched by the joint operatives of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 5 headed by PCOL DENNIS R RELLATA, Chief, RACU 5 together with the Philippine National Police Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP IMEG) under the supervision of PMAJ JORDEN V GUTAY around 8:00AM of May 17, 2023.
Suspect was identified as Pat Gabriel Q Fillone, a resident of Brgy Ilaya, Balud, Masbate and currently assigned at the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 5.
Initial investigation disclosed that subject person started to process his loan application on May 11, 2023 via online using fake Facebook account under the name of another PNP personnel along with counterfeited personal documents, forged signature as part of the requirements in securing the loan.
PSSLAI in close collaboration with RACU 5 and IMEG purposely processed the respondent’s loan application and issued a confirmation sheet. On the May 17, 2023 subject person encashed the amount at MLhuiller Daraga Branch by presenting the confirmation sheet and a fake identification card of the victim.
Seized from his possession and control was the fake PRC of alyas “Kelvin”, the victim; cellphone; 1 issued M16 Elisco Rifle with SN: RP158095; 5 long magazines; bandolier; and 131 pcs of 5.56 caliber ammunition.

"NO PERMIT, NO EXAM" IPAGBABAWAL NA

Sa unang araw ng pagbabalik sa session, inaprubahan agad ng Kongreso ang panukalang magpataw ng parusa laban sa mga private elementary at high school institutions na hindi papayag sa mga estudyante na kumuha ng exams dahil hindi sila nakabayad ng tuition.

"May mga hindi inaasahang pangyayari na maaaring makahadlang sa isang pamilya sa pagbabayad ng kanilang obligasyon ngunit hindi dapat malagay sa alanganin ang edukasyon at kapakanan ng mga mag-aaral dahil dito," ayon kay House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
