Waltermart opens
45th store in Luzon

WALTERMART has opened its 45th store in the Luzon island in Mabalacat, Pampanga, on Thursday morning.
Waltermart Managing Director Wilson Lim Jr. said this is Waltermart’s 3rd store in Pampanga province located near the bustling Clark Freeport Zone and the Clark International Airport. The two other stores are located in Arayat town and the City of San Fernando.
Lim said Waltermart Mabalacat employs some 300 residents from the area.
“It is our mission to generate employment to areas where we are located,” Lim said. Waltermart is expected to open a new store in Barangay Manibaug Paralaya, Porac town, its 4th store in Pampanga, next year.
Mabalacat Mayor Geld Aquino has welcomed the entry of Waltermart in Mabalacat City noting more investments are seen to rise up in the city adjacent to growth areas such as the Clark freeport.
Porac Mayor Jing Capil has also said more Kapampangans will be employed as Waltermart aggresively open new stores in Pampanga province.

AFAB gets smart assistance, rolls
out ‘Kettybot, the service robot’

MARIVELES, Bataan - A new kind of assistant is now working inside the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan’s (AFAB) Administration Building.
It moves around the halls, greets guests, carries informational materials, plays cheerful music and even shares Freeport updates.
Introducing KettyBot, AFAB’s multi-functional service robot that supports daily operations and visitor engagement. Compact and approachable, KettyBot is a practical addition to the workplace, one that reflects AFAB’s move toward integrating technology in simple but useful ways.
Equipped with an 18.5-inch interactive display, voice interaction, and artificial intelligence-based navigation, KettyBot can safely move through busy corridors, provide directions to guests, deliver materials weighing up to 30 kilograms, and return to its charging station automatically when idle.
It also serves as a mobile display for announcements and assists staff in welcoming guests during visits—adding a touch of novelty that mirrors the Freeport’s evolving work environment.
Though still in the early stages of use, KettyBot highlights AFAB’s continued effort to explore tools that improve efficiency and enhance public interaction.
It also serves as a small but meaningful step in the agency’s broader move toward smarter, more adaptive systems.
In a time where most government agencies still rely on traditional setups, AFAB’s readiness to explore new approaches reflects a Freeport that keeps pace with change, making public service more dynamic and forward-looking.

Cong Pogi wants inspection
of hospitals, bridges, malls

FOLLOWING the structural integrity inspections of schools, Rep. Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. (1st District-Pampanga) has requested the Department of Public and Works and Highways (DPWH) Pampanga 3rd District Engineering Office, led by Engr. Arnold Ocampo, to conduct inspections of all bridges, pedestrian overpass/footbridges, malls, and hospitals in the First District, in coordination with the respective Building Officials of each locality.
On October 15, 2025, Lazatin joined the DPWH in the structural integrity inspections of Anunas Elementary School in Angeles City, Sta. Ines Elementary School in Mabalacat City, and Dolores National High School in Magalang.
The inspections were conducted following Lazatin’s request, due to the recent successive earthquakes in various parts of the country.
All schools in the First District will undergo inspection in the coming days, beginning with Angeles City on October 16.
On October 13, 2025, Lazatin also filed House Resolution No. 368 requesting the Department of Education (DepEd) to postpone face-to-face classes and shift to alternative modes of learning, such as modules and online classes, for a period of at least two weeks in public and private schools nationwide to give time for the formulation of guidelines on disaster and emergency preparedness and response in schools.
