The program was designed to enhance the sporting skills of both students and faculty members while fostering fitness, discipline, and unity. Activities will run every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., making wellness an integral part of academic life.

In his welcoming address, Dr. Marfred T. Sanchez underscored the vital role of sports in higher education, emphasizing its power to nurture talent, cultivate teamwork, and instill the values of sportsmanship. The atmosphere was immediately energized with a lively cheer and yell competition, which boosted confidence and unity among the competing groups.

The Olympics feature five competing teams: Peppapink (first years), Greentepede (second years), Blackphyton (third years), RedHorse (fourth years), and Bluebuyog (SOYO officers and faculty). Tournament mechanics were presented by Mr. Hanz A. Kendrich Cascayan, who announced events such as volleyball, basketball, table tennis, sepak takraw, and traditional Filipino games.

The Oath of Amateurism, led by Mr. Nestor S. Biri, reaffirmed the values of fairness and respect. The games were then officially declared open by Mr. Jaylord Q. Guillermo, SOYO Adviser, marking the beginning of a season of spirited and meaningful competition.

The sports festivities will officially kick off with a volleyball tournament on September 23, 2025, setting the stage for weeks of healthy competition and camaraderie within the department.

The Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) Department recognized its outstanding students for their exemplary academic achievements during the Orientation Program held on September 3, 2025, at the ASC-EKB Auditorium, San Isidro Sur, Luna, Apayao.

One of the highlights of the program was the awarding of academic distinctions for the First and Second Semesters of Academic Year 2024–2025, honoring students who qualified for the Dean’s List and President’s List.

For the First Semester, 17 students were named to the Dean’s List: Sharmaine G. Taguba, Ara-Jhoy G. Rodil, Aileen R. Mendoza, Jamela Faith M. Gantala, Ashly Babes T. Catriz, Princes Karylle D. Pablo, Mark P. Leaño, Mikhaela N. Pacis, Jovelyn V. Agustin, Rodolfo T. Vidad Jr., Andrei V. Bunagan, Clarisa T. Tabangcura, Cee Jay C. Menor, Mary Jane G. Umbay, Ashlyne Kate A. Mabanag, Jasmin Joy O. Ancheta, and Keziah Josh B. Gangano. Four students also achieved the highest distinction as President’s Listers: Jade C. Unciano, Althea O. Villano, Cherry Ann M. Taala, and Julie-Ann C. Pajel.

For the Second Semester, another 17 students were recognized as Dean’s Listers: Ara-Jhoy G. Rodil, Kevin Ace C. Rico, Aileen R. Mendoza, Ashley Babes T. Catriz, Princes Karylle D. Pablo, Mark P. Leaño, Mikhaela N. Pacis, John Paul P. Cortado, Jade C. Unciano, Charlotte Yvone B. Sablot, Jovelyn V. Agustin, Rodolfo T. Vidad Jr., Clarisa T. Tabangcura, Cee Jay C. Menor, Mary Jane G. Umbay, Ashlyne Kate A. Mabanag, and Jasmin Joy O. Ancheta. Meanwhile, four students once again secured a place on the President’s List: Sharmaine G. Taguba, Althea O. Villano, Cherry Ann M. The recognition stands as a remarkable accomplishment, bestowed upon students who have demonstrated consistent commitment, hard work, and academic excellence.

𝐁𝐏𝐄𝐝 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓-𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

The Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) program held its Orientation Program for Academic Year 2025–2026 on September 3, 2025, at the ASC-EKB Auditorium, San Isidro Sur, Luna, Apayao.

The program commenced with the opening remarks of Mr. Jaylord Q. Guillermo, adviser of the Sports Oriented Youth Organization (SOYO), who welcomed students from all year levels of the BPEd department and acknowledged the presence of campus officials, faculty members, speakers, and guests.

Delivering an inspirational message, Dr. Ronald O. Ocampo, Vice President for Academics, Research and Development and Extension Services, underscored the importance of physical education in the “era of screen time.” He reminded students of the challenges ahead but encouraged them to remain resilient. “True champions are not those who never failed but those who refuse to stay down. Think of today as your workout session. It is here where you set your pace, strengthen your focus, and prepare for a long race ahead,” Dr. Ocampo said.

Campus Dean Dr. Rema Bascos-Ocampo also addressed the BPEd students, noting the 4,017 enrollees at ASC Luna Campus this semester, of which 202 are from the BPEd program. She emphasized that physical education extends beyond sports and fitness. “Physical Education is not just about sports and fitness. It’s about character, teamwork, perseverance, and resilience,” she said. “The lessons you learn here will empower you to shape lives, inspire others, and advocate for healthier and more active communities.”

Among the highlights of the program was the discussion on the Solid Waste Management Act (RA 9003) led by Mr. Marcel B. Tomas of Environmental Sustainability Governance, who stressed its legal foundations, penalties, and the importance of waste management in schools and communities.

This was followed by Dr. Rey Carl V. Arimas, Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Person, who discussed gender equality, sexual orientation, identity, and expression. He likewise raised awareness of RA 11313 (Safe Spaces Act or “Bawal Bastos Law”) and RA 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act) and announced upcoming advocacy activities for both faculty and students.

The orientation also featured the formal presentation of the Sports Oriented Youth Organization to the department, along with its Constitution and By-Laws. Faculty members of the BPEd program were likewise introduced to the student.

In addition, students who qualified for the Dean’s List and President’s List for the First and Second Semesters of Academic Year 2024–2025 were recognized for their academic excellence. Fourth-year students preparing to embark on their Field Studies in various partner schools were also formally acknowledged.

The program concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Judel B. Tabason, BPEd faculty member, who expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event.

The Sports Oriented Youth Organization (SOYO) of the Bachelor of Physical Education invites all students and employees of Apayao State College to join Sayaw para sa Lahat, a dance exercise for health and wellness held every Wednesday from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the ASC Athletic Ground starting September 3, 2025.

The initiative promotes health, wellness, and camaraderie among students, faculty, and staff, while supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—advancing good health and well-being (SDG 3), gender equality (SDG 5), reduced inequalities (SDG 10), and partnerships for the goals (SDG 17).

Earlier this week, the troupe was named a finalist by the IFSU International Affairs and Linkages through its official page. During the awarding ceremony, the group was officially declared the 3rd Place winner in the Cultural Dance Category B (Recorded).

The ASEAN Fusion 2025 features multiple contested events divided into two categories. Category A, to Ifugao State University, covers competitions such as essay writing, digital poster making, and recorded free speech. Meanwhile, Category B is open to participating ASEAN higher education institutions, both national and international, and includes essay writing, digital poster making, recorded free speech, and recorded cultural dance.

According to Mr. Judel B. Tabason, adviser of the Salin Lahi Pamana Dance Troupe, the inspiration behind the video was to highlight the culture of the Isnag people of Apayao, particularly the Taddo and Say-am. He explained that these traditions are significant expressions of identity that must be valued and preserved. Mr. Tabason also emphasized that through the performance, he hoped to impart to the youth the essence of unity, respect, belongingness, and the richness of Apayao’s cultural heritage.

Meanwhile, the BS Forestry contingent of Kalinga State University emerged as champion, followed by Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember of Indonesia in second place.

The feat was made possible through the support of College President Dr. John N. Cabansag, mentors Dr. Philip Constantine L. Mandac and Dr. Marfred T. Sanchez, and the creative team led by Judel B. Tabason with Mitzi Gay B. Cayde and Crismel A. Garcia.

Tinanghal na 1st runner-up - Lakambini si Keisha R. Agustin at 3rd runner-up - Lakan naman si Clarence C. Dumayas, kapwa mga unang taon na mag-aaral ng Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd). Ang naturang pagkilala ay naganap sa patimpalak ng Lakan at Lakambini bilang bahagi ng selebrasyon ng Buwan ng Wika noong Agosto 19, 2025 sa San Isidro Gymnasium, Luna, Apayao.

Ang paligsahan ay binubuo ng apat na mahahalagang segment: una, ang Production Number na nagpakita ng kumpiyansa at karisma ng mga kalahok sa entablado; pangalawa, ang Ethnic Attire kung saan ibinida ang mga makukulay na kasuotang sumasalamin sa mayamang kultura ng iba’t ibang pangkat sa Pilipinas; pangatlo, ang Barong at Filipiniana Segment na nagbigay-diin sa kagandahan at kakisigan ng mga Pilipino at Pilipina; at panghuli, ang Question and Answer na nagbigay daan upang masubok ang talino at kakayahan ng mga kandidato sa pagsagot sa mga mahahalagang katanungan.

Matapos ang mga pagtatanghal, parehong napili sina Agustin at Dumayas bilang bahagi ng Top 5 Finalists. Sa huli, dahil sa kanilang ipinakitang husay at galing, itinanghal si Agustin bilang 1st Runner-Up – Lakambini, habang si Dumayas naman ay 3rd Runner-Up – Lakan.

Ang kanilang pagtindig at pagrepresenta sa entablado ay nagsilbing patunay ng katatagan, katalinuhan, at katapangan ng ating departamento—isang pagpapakita ng tunay na diwang Pilipino at karangalang maipagmamalaki ng Bachelor of Physical Education.

Nakamit ni Jomari A. Feliciano, mag-aaral sa ika-apat na taon ng Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd), ang ikatlong puwesto sa Poster Making Contest na ginanap noong Agosto 19, 2025 sa Mithi Multimedia Hall, Apayao State College – Luna Campus.

Sa pamamagitan ng kaniyang malikhaing obra, matagumpay na naipahayag ni Feliciano ang kahalagahan ng wika bilang bahagi ng identidad at pagkakaisa ng sambayanang Pilipino.

Samantala, itinanghal na kampeon si Jhennelle Aia Arriola mula sa Bachelor of Science in Forestry (BSF), habang pumangalawa naman si Erika Jamoyo mula sa Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA).

Ang paligsahan ay isinagawa bilang bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika na may temang “Paglinang sa Filipino at Katutubong Wika, Makasaysayan sa Pagkakaisa ng Bansa.”

Hindi matatawaran ang galing at dedikasyon ng mga estudyante ng Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) matapos masungkit nina Mikhaela N. Pacis at Disairah T. Castillo, kapwa nasa ikatlong taon, ang ikatlong gantimpala sa patimpalak na Dalawahang Tinig bilang bahagi ng selebrasyon ng Buwan ng Wika noong Agosto 19, 2025 sa San Isidro Gymnasium, Luna, Apayao.

Sa entablado, buong puso nilang inawit ang “Dakilang Lahi” — isang makabayang obra ni Alfredo Buenaventura na lalong nagbigay kulay at damdamin sa kanilang pagtatanghal. Ang kanilang boses, bagama’t magkaiba sa timbre, ay nagtugma sa isang himig ng pagkakaisa na nagpatunay sa kanilang pagmamahal sa musika.

Hindi rin nagpahuli ang iba pang kalahok mula sa iba’t ibang programa. Nakamit nina Jabez Ternura at Caren Joy Briones ng BSBA ang unang puwesto sa kanilang masuyong pag-awit ng “Ikaw at Ako.” Samantala, mas pinatingkad naman nina Lexhimer Eyam at Kenjie Usita ng BSABE ang entablado sa kanilang interpretasyon ng “Hanggang Ngayon,” na nagbigay sa kanila ng ikalawang puwesto.

Higit pa sa mga gantimpala, ipinakita ng mga kalahok ang tunay na diwa ng Buwan ng Wika — ang pagpapahayag ng damdamin, kultura, at pagmamahal sa sariling wika sa pamamagitan ng sining. Ang kanilang mga tinig ay nagsilbing paalala na ang musika, gaya ng ating wika, ay may kakayahang magbuklod at magbigay-inspirasyon sa bawat Pilipino.
