Bagong Tanza, Aurora โ The spirit of collaboration and community came alive last week as parents, teachers, and students of Bagong Tanza Elementary School kicked off this yearโs Gulayan sa Paaralan program with energy and dedication.
With plots designated from Kindergarten to Grade 6, each grade level took part in preparing, planting, and organizing their assigned garden spaces, marking a promising start to the school's goal of promoting sustainable gardening, nutrition awareness, and hands-on learning.
What stood out in this year's launch was the overwhelming support from parents. Armed with tools, seedlings, and a shared enthusiasm for the project, parents actively participated in the preparation of plots โ from clearing the soil to planting various vegetables. Their involvement not only strengthened the home-school partnership but also emphasized the value of community support in achieving the school's goals.
According to Mr. Alfredo III S. Respicio, Gulayan sa Paaralan Coordinator, the initiative aims to instill the importance of agriculture, responsibility, and food sustainability among learners at an early age.
โThe participation of parents this year has been truly commendable. Their commitment ensures the success of this program and sets a great example for our learners,โ said Mr. Respicio.
Mr. Baylon D. Rumbaoa, Head Teacher III, also expressed his gratitude to the parents and teachers for working hand-in-hand for the success of the school garden.
โThis is more than just planting. This is about teaching our children to value food, hard work, and the environment โ lessons that will stay with them for life,โ he shared.
The Gulayan sa Paaralan will continue throughout the school year, with each class tending to their garden plots and showcasing the fruits โ and vegetables โ of their labor in future school activities.
