𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒: The Maritime Safety Services Unit Bicol (MSSU-BCL), under the leadership of 𝐋𝐓𝐉𝐆 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐋 𝐃𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐂 𝐇. 𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐓, 𝐏𝐂𝐆, Commander, MSSU-BCL, actively participated in DepEd’s Brigada Eskwela 2026 with the theme, “Bayanihan sa Paaralan: Nagkakaisa Para sa Kaayusan at Kaalaman,” on 04 June 2026.

In support of this annual initiative, MSSU-BCL personnel conducted classroom cleaning, minor repairs, repainting, grass cutting, and maintenance of school facilities and resources at Basud Elementary School and Sogod Elementary School in Bacacay, Albay, as well as Bibincahan Elementary School in Brgy. Bibincahan, Sorsogon.

This initiative reflects MSSU-BCL’s unwavering commitment to community service and its continued support in providing learners with a safe, clean, and conducive learning environment in preparation for the opening of Academic Year 2026–2027.

Moreover, the activity aligns with the Philippine Coast Guard’s intensified Community Assistance, Awareness, Response, and Enforcement (iCARE) Program, further strengthening partnerships with local communities while promoting a culture of volunteerism, collaboration, and public service.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: The Maritime Safety Services Unit Bicol (MSSU-BCL), under the leadership of 𝐋𝐓𝐉𝐆 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐋 𝐃𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐂 𝐇. 𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐓 𝐏𝐂𝐆, Commander, MSSU-BCL, in support and coordination with Coast Guard District Bicol, Coast Guard Stations, and Sub-Stations, successfully conducted various maritime safety, enforcement, training, and operational activities across the Bicol Region.

MSSU-BCL personnel led by the Commander, MSSU-BCL, together with CGSS Cawayan personnel, paid courtesy call to Mr. Greg Malagad, Administrative Officer of LGU Cawayan, and conducted Risk Assessment of the existing Light Station Port Cawayan at Cawayan Port, Brgy. Mahayahay, Cawayan, Masbate.

The VSEI Team of this Unit conducted Vessel Safety Enforcement Inspection (VSEI) and Emergency Readiness Evaluation (ERE) on MV RRBTC, MV SAMS TROPICAL RANCH, and MB ISLAND CRUISER TWO at TMO Legazpi Port, Pier Site, Brgy. Sabang, Legazpi City, and Bacacay Port, Bacacay, Albay.

Maritime Recreational Safety Center Bicol (MRSC-BCL) conducted lecture on MC 03-14, Lifeguard Operations, Beach and Pool Type/Environment for sixteen (16) lifeguard applicants at Palm’s Farm Resort, Brgy. 4 Cayucyucan, Camarines Norte.

Maritime Rescue Sub-Center Bicol (MRSC-BCL) successfully conducted Search and Rescue (SAR) Table Top Exercises (TTX) for CGS Masbate, CGSS Milagros, CGSS Mandaon, CGSS Aroroy, and Osmeña Colleges Criminology Interns within the AOR of Masbate.

MSSU-BCL and FMIC-BCL personnel rendered assistance in the deployment of a Self-Locating Datum Marker Buoy at San Andres, Catanduanes.

These activities highlight MSSU-BCL’s unwavering commitment to promoting maritime safety, operational preparedness, and effective coordination with stakeholders in ensuring safer seas and coastal communities across the region.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: In observance of the 𝐈𝐌𝐎'𝐬 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, through the support of Commander, Coast Guard District Bicol 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐎 𝐈𝐕𝐀𝐍 𝐄 𝐑𝐎𝐋𝐃𝐀𝐍 𝐏𝐂𝐆, the Maritime Safety Services Unit Bicol (MSSU-BCL), under the leadership of 𝐋𝐓𝐉𝐆 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐋 𝐃𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐂 𝐇 𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐓 𝐏𝐂𝐆, Commander, MSSU-BCL in coordination with Coast Guard Stations and Sub-Stations, intensified maritime safety efforts across the Bicol Region.

MSSU-BCL, through the Maritime Recreational Safety Center Bicol (MRSC-BCL), conducted Recreational Safety Enforcement Inspections (RSEI) in various coastal beach resorts within the areas of responsibility of CGS Masbate, CGS Sorsogon, CGS Camarines Sur, and CGS Camarines Norte.

Simultaneously, MSSU-BCL personnel participated in Mangrove Planting and Coastal Clean-Up Drives in Masbate City and Virac, Catanduanes, promoting environmental protection and coastal preservation.

Moreover, MSSU-BCL personnel, together with CGSS Bacon personnel, conducted the posting of PCG Drowning Prevention Advisories in various coastal beach resorts and carried out Baywatch patrol operations in coastal areas within Bacon District, Sorsogon City.

These activities aim to ensure that resort operators comply with existing maritime safety regulations and maintain the necessary safety measures, including life-saving equipment, proper warning signage, and emergency response preparedness.

Additionally, these efforts highlight the Philippine Coast Guard’s commitment to keeping coastal areas safe and clean, ensuring safer seas while supporting eco-tourism across the Bicol Region.

This effort aims to ensure that all fishing vessels and other watercrafts operating within Mercedes, Camarines Norte are seaworthy, properly manned, and compliant with existing safety standards and regulations set forth by the PCG, MARINA and other maritime agencies. It also seeks to promote the safety of lives and property at sea in the province of Camarines Norte.

The Coast Guard District Bicol (CGDBCL), through Coast Guard Station (CGS) Camarines Sur, officially opened the three-day Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) Expo at Robinsons Place Naga, Camarines Sur today, 11 May 2026.

The opening ceremony was presided over by the Commander of Coast Guard District Bicol, Commodore Ivan E Roldan PCG, together with the Station Commander of CGS Camarines Sur, Lieutenant Kenny E Villafuerte PCG, and Auxiliary Captain Raul P Agrade PCGA, Director Auxiliary Squadron of the 907th Auxiliary Squadron.

Participating uniformed agencies, including the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the 9th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, showcased their search and rescue capabilities, operational readiness, and specialized rescue equipment. Various private suppliers and exhibitors also presented emergency response and rescue equipment, including Makita Rescue, Proteger, MODE, Lumitex, DEZCOM, D II, MERET, EEOC, Mang Ondoy, and T3ck Group.

Also present during the activity were personnel from the 902nd and 908th Coast Guard Auxiliary Squadrons; along with students from Naga College Foundation and the University of Nueva Caceres; and MDRRMO’s of Cam Sur, highlighting the importance of community involvement and disaster preparedness awareness among the youth.

The WASAR Expo serves as a platform to strengthen inter-agency collaboration, promote public awareness on emergency preparedness, and enhance the capabilities of responders in water search and rescue operations.

Through this initiative, CGDBCL reaffirms its steadfast commitment to advancing maritime safety, disaster response readiness, and humanitarian service through strong collaboration with partner agencies, auxiliary units, private organizations, and the community.
