Mass-K Fest Dance and Cosplay Competitions Emerge as New Festival Highlights
BACOLOD CITY — A fresh wave of excitement is taking over the MassKara Festival 2025 as the finalists for the Mass-K Fest Dance Cover Group and Solo Cosplay Competitions were officially announced — reflecting the vibrant influence of global pop culture and the creativity of Bacolod’s new generation of performers.
Scheduled for October 16 at 5 PM at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC), these competitions have rapidly become anticipated festival highlights, especially among fans of K-pop, P-pop, and anime.
In the Dance Cover Group Competition, eight standout crews will take the stage. These include Koud Vela channeling BLACKPINK, X Encrypted covering SEVENTEEN, and X Virus performing as IZONE. Also competing are Monst Ar, Syren, Gaynon Dance Co. as KATSEYE, Chaos Dire as Meow, and Perilous bringing their take on Bini. Each group brings a unique blend of style, precision, and stage presence inspired by today’s biggest pop icons.
Meanwhile, the Solo Cosplay Competition features ten talented finalists who will portray a wide range of characters from anime and pop music. Among them are Zaddi as Gawon of Meovv, Carl as ChungHa, and Hiro Han as Wonhee of ILLIT. The K-pop presence continues with July, Ashh, and Rafa all cosplaying Lisa of BLACKPINK, while Suine becomes Kai of EXO, J-Paul takes on J-Hope of BTS, CL transforms into Megan of KATSEYE, and Emmanuelle Known appears as Hyoyeon of Girls’ Generation.
Festival Director Rodney Mitz Ascalon praised the growing popularity of these competitions, noting their significance in expanding the scope of the MassKara celebration.
“MassKara has always been about expression, joy, and unity,” Ascalon said. “The Dance Cover and Cosplay competitions show how the festival continues to grow with the times — embracing youth culture and creating new spaces for creativity. These events are no longer side shows; they are now major attractions that bring in a vibrant new crowd.”
As MassKara evolves, these competitions are quickly establishing themselves as core attractions — connecting tradition with the energy and passion of a new generation.
