: HANDUMANAN CREDITS THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE WORK

Today calls for another feast of the heart, as the school gave appreciation to the people who make our learning and comfort here at the University of St. La Salle possible.

Earlier this morning, as a part of celebrating the Handumanan Week, the men and women of the school's workforce were given the recognition and praise they deserved during the Employee's Day at the lobby of the Miguel Building.

Apart from celebrating the Lasallians themselves, we have seen that this week has also provided a celebration for the people behind the work that makes us Lasallians, strengthening the spirit and community that the institution stands for.

: A CELEBRATION OF CREATIVITY AT HANDUMANAN

From having Lasallians perform, to having Lasallians showcase their filmmaking skills, Day 4 of Handumanan Week is here!

The day started with the Open Mic, where various Lasallians came and conquered the stage with their talents, as the crowd cheer along. We then went straight to Handumanan Park itself, where Lasallians watched and enjoyed local films—with some made by Communication students themselves.

With this exciting day wrapped up, we wonder, what more will this celebration bring us next. As the last day of this celebration nears, Handumanan continues to prove to be more than just a commemoration of Lasallian spirit, but also of creativity.

: THE HEARTBEAT OF HANDUMANAN

The second day of the Handumanan Week filled the campus with energy on July 7, 2025, as activities highlighted the celebration of our Lasallian spirit.

The day began with the Opening Program, followed by the ceremonial Ribbon Cutting that officially welcomed everyone into the celebration. Students and visitors then explored the Handumanan Exhibit, where campus stories and traditions were brought to life through engaging displays.

The Earth Keeper segment highlighted our commitment to environmental stewardship, while various activities throughout the day reinforced the values that define our community. From meaningful conversations to shared experiences, the campus buzzed with the distinctive energy that makes Handumanan special.

More than just an event, Handumanan continues to serve as the heartbeat of our campus, bringing together the stories and spirit that make us proud to be a Lasallian.

‘BASTA, PROD NI’ TRIUMPHS AT CINE KAHIRUP 2025

AB Communication students from the University of St. La Salle, under Basta, Prod Ni (BPN), bagged multiple awards for their short film “20 Years Never Passed” (20YNP) at the Cine Kahirup Silay Film Festival 2025 last Friday, July 4, at the Sen. Jose C. Locsin Cultural and Civic Center.

20YNP, a 20-minute film, tells the story of Sol (Cedilyn Casuyon) and Gape (Mr. Fuji Jalando-on), two childhood friends who reunited in their hometown after the 20 years apart. The film also stars Ms. Mary Jane Prado Quilisadio as Sally.

On how the film came to be, director Fahleen Fang Casidsid shared, “The story was born with an image I had in mind about a woman coming back to Silay City after two decades. (…) I have relatives who work abroad and the worst thing that I think could happen was them coming home to no one.”

The BPN production team, comprised of now AB Communication sophomores, marked their debut at their first film festival— ending the Cine Kahirup 2025 Awards Night with three wins and ten nominations.

Major Awards Won:
- Best Cinematography
- Best Director
- Best Actor

Nominations:
- Best Picture
- Best Actress
- Best Supporting Actress
- Best Screenplay
- Best Production Design
- Best Sound Design
- Best Editing

TRUE COLORS: CSU CHAMPION EQUALITY IN KRAYOLA 4.0

In celebration of Pride Month, the Communication Society of the University of St. La Salle (CSU) held Krayola 4.0 with the theme "All 4 Love, Love 4 All," at the Gallaga Theater on June 25, 2025.

This year's keynote speaker, Atty. Andrea Lizares spoke on why marriage matters for inclusivity and equality through her talk entitled “Same-sex Marriage vs. Civil Union: A Legal Literacy Discussion”.

Her discussion encompassed the difference of same-sex union and same-sex marriage, along with provisions in the 1987 Philippine Constitution that either supports or hinders the progress of institutionalizing same-sex union or same-sex marriage in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, guest speakers Mx. Paul Daniel Serrano, Mx. Junius Dale Capus, Mx. Charlize Leigh Yee, and Mx. Erika Dane Zayco shared their respective q***r journeys and reminded the audience about the true essence of pride.

Krayola is CSU’s annual event that promotes inclusivity and serves as a platform for students to engage in discussions essential for the fight of equality and the q***r community.
