Nurturing care through service, the UNO-R Student Nurses Organization (SNO) and College of Allied Medical Health Sciences Student Council (CAMHSSC) took the initiative at the DOH Wellness Clinic with the theme โ€œSa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Buhay Mahalagaโ€ at the 3rd Floor, Northwing, Government Services, SM City Bacolod, July 2-4.

โ€œIt feels fulfilling to know that, in our own small way, we became part of a milestone in public healthcare โ€” a moment in history that will continue to grow, and we were there when it all began,โ€ SNO President Ma. Tiara Limpangog said.

Limpangog also shared that the DOH Wellness Clinic offers a variety of medical services, including OB consultations, nutrition consultations, and free deworming, following a structured daily schedule.

Nursing students assist with tasks such as taking vital signs, measuring height and weight, conducting patient interviews, and endorsing the patients to the attending doctor.

The mentioned specialized services take place in the morning, while general consultations are held in the afternoon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., accommodating up to 20 clients per day, as the clinic operates under Alagang Corazon, which is managed by the healthcare workers from Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH).

Moreover, SNO also attended the Grand Launching Ceremony of the DOH Wellness Clinic on July 8.

Extending health education, the Apothecarian Society, Student Nurses Organization (SNO), and the University Community Development Office(UCDO) conducted an outreach activity with the theme โ€œKasanag kag Kahimsug: Pagpangusisa kag Pag-amlig sang Kabuhi sa Purok Dalayapan,โ€ at Brgy. Caduhaan, Cadiz City, June 27.

โ€œThe outreach plays a vital role in bringing essential healthcare services directly to communities, while it may not eliminate every health issue, it goes a long way toward preventing problems before they start,โ€ SNO VP of Finance Deceree Baylin said.

Baylin also added that this event helped bridging people to better health, saving lives, building trust, and improving the overall well-being of the community.

"Being outside the walls of the classroom reminded me why I chose Pharmacy in the first place. We werenโ€™t just talking about health, we were connecting with real people, sharing smiles, and learning from the community too," Incoming Apothecarian President Jessele Burgos stated.

Moreover, the SNO led the hands-on training sessions on measuring vital signs to monitor key health indicators, meanwhile, Apothecarian Society offered vitamins and provided counseling on how to take them.

Despite the sudden rainfall, 255 graduates from the College of Allied Medical Health Sciences (CAMHS) graced the 79th Commencement Exercises at the University Amphitheater, June 21.

Seven Loyalty Awardees were recognized, while a total of 17 Latin Honors were awarded from the college, including four Magna Cum Laudes and 13 Cum Laudes.

In addition, a Certificate of Recognition was given to Mary Catherine Nakar, RN, for her exemplary performance during the November 2024 Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination (PNLE) where she shined as the 8th Placer.

"I'd tell her not to be too hard on herself and that every failure and closed door she would stumble upon would redirect her into something far greater and brighter than what she expected," Cum Laude and Medtech Best Intern Awardee Honey Wind Oriel said when asked of her message to her freshman self.

Oriel also expressed that her main goal was just to maintain her full scholarship but fell short during her third year, nonetheless, with God's grace, her family's prayers, and her loving partner's support, she was able to become a Cum Laude.

Moreover, CAMHS Batch 2025 official graduates consist of the 96 Medical Technology students, 117 Nursing students, and 42 Pharmacy students.

In a solemn display of faith and pride, the University of Negros Occidentalโ€“Recoletos held its 79th Commencement Exercises through a Baccalaureate Mass and the Imposition of Hoods for the graduates of the College of Allied Medical Health Sciences (CAMHS), along with Recoletos de Bacolod Graduate School, held at the University Gymnasium, June 19.

The Baccalaureate Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Amadeo C. Lucero, OAR, Vice President for Finance and Administration, who reminded graduates of the importance of carrying their faith and values into their future endeavors.

โ€œAs we leave the halls that have seen our struggles and successes, may we carry forward not only the knowledge that UNO-R has ingrained in us, but also the values embedded," CAMHS valedictorian Danielle Yves Aboy said.

Aboy added a reminder to her fellow graduates that the ceremony was just the beginning of their greater calling: to serve, heal, and live with a purpose.

The event was followed by the Imposition of Hoods, symbolizing the completion of their academic journey, along with the awarding ceremony for non-academic awardees.

Moreover, the graduation ceremony will be held on June 21 at 4 PM.

Batch Stellaris Medical Technology (MedTech) Interns celebrated their clinical graduation through a pinning and awarding ceremony with the theme, "Voyage: Boarding Victories, Rising to the Stars," at the St. Nicholas of Tolentine Oratory, June 16.

โ€œToday marks a powerful culmination of a few years of diligent study, live education, and countless hours spent in both classrooms and at our place,โ€ Rev. Fr. Joel A. Alve, OAR, said in his special message.

Fr. Alve added that the ceremony was a vision of the internsโ€™ knowledge, skills, and most importantly, their character.

โ€œI am feeling ecstatic and overwhelmed at the same time because I still cannot fathom the fact that I am almost at the finish line,โ€ MedTech Intern John Michael Beloya expressed.

Beloya also said that the challenges and achievements he acquired over the years helped him survive the 1,664 hours of rendering their clinical internship.

Additionally, the ceremony was preceded by a mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Corvin R. Maturan, OAR.

After the ceremony, Batch Stellaris proceeded to the Base Function Hall to commemorate and receive additional recognitions alongside their affiliated centers.

Showcasing scientific excellence, fourth-year CAMHS Pharmacy researchers emerged as champions in the Scientific Advancement category during the annual University Research Expo (UR Expo) with the theme, "Pathways to Prosperity: Tackling Inequality and Fostering Economic Inclusion," held at University Gymnasium, May 15.

Their study, titled "In Vitro Evaluation of the Anti-Inflammatory Property of Malabar Spinach (๐˜‰๐˜ข๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜ญ๐˜ข ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ฃ๐˜ข)," won first place in the Oral Presentation category and second place in the Poster Presentation, competing against three other research groups from different UNO-R college departments.

The Research Expo was organized by the University's Research and Development Office and centered on three primary domains: Societal Dynamics, Emerging Technologies, and Scientific Advancement.

"Itโ€™s encouraging to see our work acknowledged, especially knowing how much time and effort went into it. We look forward to sharing our study, and we hope to spark more interest in exploring herbal drug alternatives to introduce safer options to the market," group leader Alexxis Torres said.

Moreover, the Nursing Department qualified to present their research under the Societal Dynamics Oral Presentation Category with a study entitled, "The Management Skills and Stress Levels among Second-Year Nursing Students of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, Incorporated."
