Iâm afraid.
Afraid you might stop loving me, afraid I could lose you. Afraid youâll find someone who makes you laugh more easily, someone who feels lighter to hold. Afraid the messages will slow, the warmth will fade, and before I even realize it, weâll feel like strangers.
Iâve been left before. Iâve watched people I love walk away without looking back. Each time, Iâve learned to expect itâto prepare for it. My heart has grown used to keeping a suitcase packed, just in case.
Itâs not your love I doubt right now, but the idea of forever. Forever has always ended too soon for me. And when I think about losing you, the ache is overwhelming. It isnât jealousy, it isnât controlâitâs fear. Fear that one day youâll see me the way others did: too much, too emotional, too complicated to keep.
Iâm afraid because you matter to me more than I ever thought anyone could. And when someone matters this much, the thought of losing them feels unbearable
