We tried omurice at Omu
We saw a few posts about this place and saw that 1 order costs around P400 - my first thought was “Is it worth it?”
We aware it’s the hardest omelette to make. It’s a creamy, soft-centered omelette that’s cooked into a perfect thin pouch meant to be cut open for it to flow over rice and then with some sauce poured all over it. But again, is it worth it?
We haven’t been to Japan so we haven’t had the real thing. So taste-wise, we are not reliable - but was it good? Yes! It was really good and full of flavor!
Looking at how it’s made right in front of you (kudos to cooks who do an amazing job), how big the serving is and how it already comes with miso soup - we would say it’s worth it!
With an additional fee, you get the complete set - an Otoshi sampler (tofu with dashi stock, beef tendon with Konnyaku and Ito Togarashi, japanese cucumber with chili flakes) and a Mogicha Tea - we thought it was a good deal!
We got the OMU Double Grilled Cheese Hamburg (quarter pounder of freshly ground grilled Australian beef patty with melted orange cheddar and mozzarella choose on top - just typing this again I thought - yes - super worth it!) with demi sauce and I loved it! You will never eat a cold meal here - everything is done on the spot for you!
We also got the same order but with the curry sauce! If you do order curry sauce, you can choose the level of spiciness from 1-3. This type of sauce has a bolder taste than the demi sauce. So if you want subtle, go with demi. If stronger flavor, go with curry sauce. Also, if you order demi sauce, you get fried rice. If you order curry sauce, you get plain rice.
Overall, we love it! Would go back to try the Tonkatsu Rosu!
