4 Oct. 2025 - In a significant move to improve quality of urban living, the city government has joined the United Nations' Quality of Life Initiative, a global project aimed at enhancing sustainable urban development and understanding the needs of its residents.
As part of this initiative, the city through the City Planning Development and Sustainability Office launched on Oct. 1 the Quality of Life survey for residents which will run until Oct. 15.
The survey was developed in partnership with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and designed to gather essential data on the quality of life experienced by Baguio residents.
The information collected will not only help the local leadership better serve the community but also contribute to a global effort to improve cities worldwide.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong emphasized the importance of the initiative in the city's long-term vision for a livable, inclusive and creative city by 2043.
โOur goal is to make Baguio a thriving, inclusive, and sustainable community where everyone can enjoy a high quality of life. Through this partnership with UN-Habitat, we have a unique opportunity to better understand the needs of our residents and contribute to a global tool that will benefit cities around the world,โ he said.
The CPDSO said the survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and covers a broad range of topics, including:
โข Basic services and mobility
โข Culture and recreation
โข Education
โข Environment
โข Economy
โข Governance
โข Health and wellbeing
โข Housing
โข Social cohesion
"This survey has been co-created with urban development experts from UN-Habitat and tailored to the unique context of Baguio City. The findings will help guide the city's future policies, programs, and services, ensuring alignment with broader international frameworks such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)," CPDSO Coordinator Arch Donna Tabangin said.
She said the survey's results will complement the city's Livability Index and Voluntary Local Review (VLR), providing valuable insights into how to create a sustainable urban environment for all residents.
