Baguio City — Now on its third year, Valencia’s Restaurant continues to make waves in the local food industry, celebrating its anniversary by honoring the dedicated staff who stood by its side since day one—when it first opened at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Young entrepreneur Richard Valencia, the visionary behind the restaurant, expressed deep gratitude for the team that stayed committed despite the challenges of launching a food business during uncertain times.

“Actually, noong nagsimula kami, nandoon yung takot,” he shared. “Yung restaurant, isa sa mga pangarap na negosyo ng pamilya ko,” he added.

Richard credits much of the restaurant’s success to the unwavering support of his friends who helped him turn this dream into a reality.

Valencia’s Restaurant has since built a loyal following with its wide array of offerings—from their signature mouthwatering Paella to fresh salads, pizzas, Filipino favorites, pastas, cakes, and a tempting selection of freshly baked pastries and breads.

The restaurant also boasts a well-stocked bar, serving everything from freshly brewed rice coffee and iced drinks to your favorite shot of whiskey and other spirits.

Guests can enjoy breakfast every Saturday to Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., while merienda, lunch, and dinner are served daily throughout the week.

Located at #30 Outlook Drive, Baguio City, the restaurant features a spacious parking area and the cool, refreshing atmosphere the City of Pines is known for.

Baguio City – The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) fitness gym at Teachers Camp received a major boost after the Manny V. Pangilinan Sports Foundation (MVPSF) turned over new gym equipment, enhancing training conditions for national athletes based in the summer capital.

The donation was warmly welcomed by newly appointed PSC Chairman Patrick "Pato" Gregorio, who expressed his excitement during the turnover ceremony.

“I saw in the faces of our national athletes that they’re smiling and excited. If they are happy, I am happy,” Gregorio said. “We will not stop making our athletes happy — lahat ito para sa kanila. Maraming salamat po, MVPSF.”

The upgrades are seen as timely support for athletes preparing for upcoming national and international competitions.

In addition to the gym equipment, John Hay Hotels, managed by Landco Lifestyle Ventures, also contributed to the interior refurbishing of the PSC Baguio Track Oval.

Aira Villegas, a bronze medalist at the 2024 Summer Olympics and member of the Philippine National Women’s Boxing Team, vowed to maximize the use of the upgraded facilities.

“Maraming taon po ako nag-train dito noong lumang-luma pa ang mga gamit. Hindi po namin sasayangin ito,” she said. “Lalo pa po naming paghuhusayan ang training namin, para sa bayan.”

Cordilleran World Muay Thai Champion Islay Bomogao echoed the sentiment:
“Napapanalo po namin ang mga laban noong wala pang maayos na gamit. How much more ngayon na meron na?”

PSC Commissioners: Fritz Gaston, Edward Hayco, and Walter Torres
• MVPSF Executive Director: Paolo Trillo
• MVPSF Team: Art Aro, Maita David, and Rommel Garovillos

Baguio City — Undefeated Cordilleran boxer Karl Jammes Martin is currently training alongside his idol, eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao, as the boxing legend prepares for his highly anticipated comeback.

“Dati napapanood ko lang sa TV, ngayon kasama ko na siya sa ensayo,” shared the former WBA Asia super bantamweight champion, still in awe of the opportunity to work side by side with the Filipino boxing icon.

Martin, a proud native of Ifugao, said he feels beyond blessed not only to train with Pacquiao but also to be under the wing of Manny Pacquiao Promotions, the legendary fighter’s own management outfit.

Following their training sessions in Los Angeles, Pacquiao and his team have moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he will take on reigning WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios in a much-awaited showdown.

“Grabe, ang daming tao ang sumusuporta pa rin sa ating (former) senator,” Martin said, as he witnessed firsthand the jam-packed crowd that gathered right after the official weigh-in in Las Vegas.

When asked if he’ll be watching the fight live at ringside, Martin replied with a smile, “Opo, manonood po ako.”

BAGUIO CITY — The Baguio City Football Club (BCFC) Under-11 team may have fallen short in the elimination rounds, but the young Cordilleran booters brought home priceless experience and exposure after competing in the prestigious MYTISI IFC Football Games held recently in Bali, Indonesia.

The five-day tournament, which kicked off last July 8, saw the BCFC squad put up a valiant effort in five matches, although they were unable to secure a win.

“The learning is the most important thing,” said BCFC head coach Gatan Dalang, who noted that the team had limited preparation time, training for only a month before flying to Bali.

“I think we are getting close. The preparation was very short — only one month,” added Dalang, himself a former Ateneo de Manila University football standout.

The squad was composed entirely of players from Baguio City, with one member hailing from La Trinidad, Benguet. Joining Coach Dalang in guiding the young athletes were Coach Jerry Soriano and Coach Lily Sumebang of Pinget Elementary School.

Aside from BCFC, other Philippine teams that participated in the international tournament included Cebu United Football Club and Higala Football Club.
