How much deeper must students soak their uniforms before officials realize that a timely announcement is all it takes to keep them safe?

The lives of every student and all school personnel must never be compromised: that is the sole purpose of class suspensions. However, while local government officials waited for a signal in the comfort of their homes, students and workers were already wading through flooded streets with their safety at risk.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. encouraged the Filipinos to not only celebrate Ninoy Aquino Day but to also protect the Philippinesโ€™ freedom and progress, August 21.

According to Marcos, the commemoration for the late former senator shall also serve as a cue for every Filipino to โ€œstand by their convictions,โ€ push for the countryโ€™s democratic gains, and live with honor and dignity.

Today, we remember Ninoy Aquino, whose courage stood against silence and whose sacrifice became part of the Filipino fight for freedom.

And now, as time has had its way, our hearts have inherited the very words of those who stood and crossed the line of courage few leaders have ever dared to tread.

A voiceโ€™s pitch may be remembered by those who have already heard it, but the words that come from it can be passed down to those who still need to hear them.

Kai Sotto is set to rejoin Gilas Pilipinas for the 2027 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers, giving the Philippines a much-needed boost against Jordan on August 28 and Iran on August 30 at the SM Mall Of Asia Arena.

Sottoโ€™s return comes as Quentin Millora-Brown, a Gilas Pilipinas center, is expected to miss the games due to back surgery, while forward Mike Phillips will be absent for his brotherโ€™s wedding.

Language may seem ordinary in our daily lives, but behind every spoken word is a complex interaction between the brain, nervous system, and speech organs. The brain produces and understands language using interconnected networks. Meanwhile, the lungs, vocal folds, tongue, lips, and jaw work together to convert thoughts into recognizable speech. According to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), speech and language involve different but closely connected processes. Language assigns meaning to ideas, while speech uses coordinated movements of the body to express them.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday, in its 5 a.m advisory, that Tropical Depression (TD) Neneng slightly intensifies as it moves towards the northwest over the sea east of Batanes.

PAGASA noted that Neneng was located approximately 675 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes, now moving northwestward at a speed of 15 km per hour with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

Following the school shooting incident in Zamboanga City that left four casualties, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered an investigation, while the Department of Education (DepEd) has urged the public to refrain from sharing sensitive media connected to the incident, August 18.

In a statement, Marcos extended his sympathies to the families of the deceased and revealed that he has directed law enforcement agencies to look into the incident to determine how similar incidents can be prevented.

๐๐Ž ๐…๐€๐‚๐„-๐“๐Ž-๐…๐€๐‚๐„ ๐‚๐‹๐€๐’๐’๐„๐’ | As per the Presidential Communications Office's Memorandum Circular No. 131, all schools in the National Capital Region (NCR) along with other provinces, including Bataan, shall implement Alternative Learning Modes (ADM), August 20.

Additionally, alternative work arrangements shall also be carried out for government offices, except agencies involved in health disaster responses.

This Wednesday, DOST-PAGASA also released Weather Advisory No. 72, where Bataan falls under the orange rainfall warning.

In the meantime, the public is advised to follow official announcements and further weather advisories from authorities.
