The Supreme College Student Council (SCSC) of Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) successfully conducted its 3-Day Student Leadership Training on September 4-6, 2025, in Zabali and Bazal campuses, gathering student leaders to strengthen their leadership skills, teamwork, and sense of responsibility as future changemakers.
The event was organized by the SCSC with the support of ASCOT administrators, faculty, and local officials.
Day 1: Zabali Campus โ September 4
The training opened at the General Education Building, Zabali Campus, with an invocation, the National Anthem, and the ASCOT Hymn.
Hon. Ron Allen C. Angara, President of the SCSC, delivered the opening remarks, followed by inspirational messages from ASCOT officials including Engr. Oscar C. Barawid Jr., PhD (VP for Administration, Planning, and Finance), Dr. Mayreen P. Amazona (VP for Academic Affairs), and Dr. Renato G. Reyes (SUC President II). Hon. Denise Alyanna T. Angara, Municipal Vice Mayor of Baler, also gave an honorable message.
The first lecture was led by Kevin Arnan Sanchez of the National Youth Commission, focusing on the role of youth leaders in nation-building. Activities included consultation sessions, working group outputs, and Student Leaders Strategic Planning. The day ended with the awarding of certificates and closing remarks from Dr. Alma S. Bayudan, Director of SAS.
Day 2: Bazal Campus โ September 5
The second day was held at the New Convention Hall, Bazal Campus, Maria Aurora. It started with welcoming remarks from Riosahile Y. Madrid, DVM (Deputy Dean, School of Agricultural Sciences), followed by messages from ASCOT administrators.
A highlight of Day 2 was the Mushroom Cultivation Hands-On Experience led by Rica Nichole Y. Napoles, which provided participants with practical agricultural knowledge.
After lunch, student leaders engaged in team-building activities spearheaded by Vincent D. Sumalbag, SCSC Executive VP. The day concluded with debriefing by Hon. Ron Allen C. Angara and closing remarks from Dr. Riosahile Y. Madrid.
Day 3: Ermita Hill & Socialization Night โ September 6
The final day was held at Ermita Hill, Zabali Campus. Activities included a National CPR Day Seminar with Elabell F. Quimbao, MPM, a Quizbee Competition, Debate Competition, and an Impromptu Speech Contest. These aimed to enhance studentsโ knowledge, critical thinking, and communication skills.
In the evening, the much-awaited Socialization Night took place at the ASCOT Hostel, featuring appreciation activities, awarding, and a fellowship dinner. The night ended with closing remarks from Engr. Jerick L. Tangson, Co-Adviser of SCSC.
Throughout the three-day program, ASCOT student leaders were immersed in leadership training, hands-on learning, competitions, and team-building exercises. The event not only strengthened camaraderie among the students but also equipped them with practical knowledge and values essential for responsible leadership.
With the theme of empowering student leaders, ASCOT reaffirmed its commitment to producing graduates who are competent, service-oriented, and nation-ready.
