CTE Faculty presents paper on PST efficacy at SEAMREEC 2025
With research and service at the forefront, a research paper titled Preservice Teachers' Sense of Efficacy, 3D (Skills, Character, and Meta learning) Competencies, and Teaching Performance authored by College of Teacher Education Faculty members was presented at the 2025 Southeast Asian Multidisciplinary Research Expo and Extension Conference (SEAMREEC) on June 24-27, 2025, at Sorsogon Convention Center in Sorsogon City, Philippines.
Delivered under Track 3 – Instructional Materials, Teaching Strategies, and Educational Technology, the study was presented by Mrs. Ariene R. Ibisate, with Prof. Clarita R. Tambong also attending the event.
Authored by Dr. Jahfet N. Nabayra, Prof. Clarita R. Tambong, Dr. John R. Orbista, Prof. Ma Lourdes I. Ilarde, Dr. Sharmaine L. Lava, Mrs. Ariene R. Ibisate, and Mrs. Jonah Eliza P. Tordecillas, the paper explores how preservice teachers perceive their own teaching efficacy in relation to three competency areas such as skills, character traits, and meta-learning abilities.
“The aim of the research is to understand how teacher education programs can better prepare future educators not just in content delivery, but in developing holistic, competent, and reflective practitioners,” Ibisate said as she elaborated on the broader goal of their study.
She added that participating in SEAMREEC was both inspiring and enriching.
“Presenting our research to an international audience helped me gain valuable insights and feedback from fellow educators and researchers,” she shared.
The paper emphasizes the importance of not only equipping future teachers with technical knowledge, but also nurturing their values, attitudes, and learning strategies to thrive in real classroom settings.
SEAMREEC is an international conference that gathers researchers, scholars, faculty, and extensionists from across Southeast Asia and beyond.
