The Paulinian Publication has earned a place among the Top 25 finalists of the iEx 2026: The National Student Mobile Journalism Competition, bringing the stories and voices of Vigan City to a national audience through its mobile journalism entry, โSa Renda ng Kalesa, Nakaukit ang Tadhana ng Tahanan.โ
Anchored on this yearโs theme, โ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ช๐ญ๐ช๐ฑ๐ช๐ฏ๐ฐ ๐๐ต๐ฐ๐ณ๐บ: ๐๐ข๐ด๐ต, ๐๐ณ๐ฆ๐ด๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ต, ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐๐ฆ๐บ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฅ,โ the entry shines a light on the lives, resilience, and stories of two remarkable women who continue to make a living behind the reins of one of Viganโs most enduring cultural icons.
Featured in the MOJO are Mrs. Marites Padron and Mrs. Teresita Sison, two female kutsero from Vigan City, whose experiences offer a meaningful glimpse into the Filipino story through work, family, tradition, and perseverance.
More than a story about the kalesa, the entry looks into the people behind the reins and the homes, dreams, and sacrifices connected to their livelihood. Through their narratives, the MOJO explores how a traditional Filipino occupation continues to carry stories from the past while remaining part of the present and, perhaps, shaping what comes beyond.

The team worked under the guidance of their Moderator, Mr. Michael R. Martinez, with the invaluable support of their Consultants, Dr. Katrina Joy Naval and Dr. Wendell Lived.
Their selection among the Top 25 finalists is a testament to the teamโs commitment to student journalism, visual storytelling, and the preservation of stories that matter. It also reflects the Publicationโs continuing mission to give space to voices and narratives that deserve to be heard.
NOW, THE PAULINIAN COMMUNITY HAS A ROLE TO PLAY
The Top 25 entries will be released through the competitionโs official YouTube platform, where the Paulinian entry will also have the opportunity to compete for the Peopleโs Choice Award.
The entire Paulinian community is invited to stand behind the team by watching, liking, commenting on, and sharing the official MOJO once it goes live.
