Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Chairperson Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II is looking forward to a more productive 2026 in terms of improving and modernizing the public land transportation system in the country.
With the all-out support from President Ferdinand โBongbongโ R. Marcos, Jr. and guidance from Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Giovanni Z. Lopez, the LTFRB is currently finalizing all the processes in the major digital shift to improve the services of the agency.
โWe are working under the marching order of the President for the digital transformation of all government services, In the case of the LTFRB, our goal is to fully implement the online application and verification of all applications, petitions, motions and other transactions,โ said Chairperson Mendoza.
โIn doing this, we are preparing the LTFRB for the future generations of digitally adept Filipinos. In the fast-changing digital environment, the LTFRB must keep up to meet the high demands and expectations of the Filipino people,โ he added.
Chairperson Mendoza said the move is also in compliance with the instruction of President Marcos to fully comply with the provisions of the existing law on Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service in the country.
โOnce we complete this transformation, we will also be able to address the perennial problem of fixers because online transactions will be direct, fast, comfortable and with less human intervention,โ he said.
Chairperson Mendoza explained that the digital transformation of the LTFRB is symbolic as the country is currently pursuing to convert the Philippine transportation into a modern and reliable system.
The LTFRB is among the key players in the Public Transportation Modernization Program (PTMP) which is currently at route rationalization and fleet modernization stages.
He said it would be highly ironic if the public transportation modernization program is being pushed under an old system.
โThe LTFRB digital transformation must be pushed side by side with PTMP.
โSo while we are working on PTMP, we will do this along with the full digital transformation of the LTFRB. And we hope to fully implement it this year,โ he said.
The LTFRB is currently working on further improving the agencyโs online platform to make it more user-friendly.
Currently, the LTFRB is also embarking on online verification of Certificate of Public Convenience and Provisional Authority in order to cut short the entire process of applying, approving and release of authority to operate for public utility vehicles (PUVs). # # #
