Studio Gikan

Studio Gikan A creative digital studio empowering purpose-led brands and initiatives by transforming me to we. We collaborate with you in turning intent to impact.

"Gikan is a local term for source or origin." Where Branding Integrates Purpose

The days of brand storytelling solely focused on profit-driven messages are over. There is a reason why people long for inspiring and empowering stories. They want messages and images which resonate – not just those which relate to who they support and what they buy. Our team comes from the powerful intersection of a

rt, digital marketing, and social good. Together we have more than ten years of experience helping individuals and organizations design and develop a brand voice that speaks to the heart. Gikan is a local term for source or origin. With our diverse team of graphic designers, illustrators, creative writers, design thinkers, artivists, and community organizers, we collaborate with you in turning intent to impact. Our Virtues

Our virtues guide our purpose. And our purpose propels our direction. We believe that our virtues strengthen our why. Curiosity, generous listening, collaborative spirit, radical creativity, and sincerity are guide attributes that enable us to stay centered in the journey. Our Mission

Cultivating a heart-forward world

We live in a highly-informed and globally competitive world, but also a fractured and fragmented one. As the longing for meaning and resonance become stronger, cultivating heart-forward spaces has never been so essential.

Meet Maimai - a curious, adventurous, and compassionate Visayan girl.

Maimai explores around and through the local forest in the storybook-inspired website for the Sarang Foundation.

She finds a little bird that has fallen from its nest. Maimai has no second thoughts - she holds the bird kindly, climbs a nearby tree, and returns it to the nest with its brood. Her face exudes the delight of pure care.

It is the mission of the Sarang Foundation to help nurture Visayan children like Maimai as they grow into thought leaders and changemakers.

It is our joy and honor to work with Sarang Foundation.

We have been working closely with the founder, Mia Watanabe who has confessed to us her quest for a socially-conscious design team.

The logo for Sarang Foundation features the native Philippine scops owl with a book.

The owl keenly watches over the forest, especially in the dark. It swoops swiftly and silently in response to sounds and sights. It represents loyalty and care.

The book represents the curiosity and open-mindedness of children. Nurtured by experience and love, developing good judgment: the gaining of wisdom and growth.

The Visayan cultural aspect of the logo is seen through the tattoo-like design.

In working with clients for projects that reflect their ethos, we center our design work on these virtues: curiosity, generous listening, collaborative spirit, radical creativity, and sincerity.

Our virtues guide our purpose. And our purpose propels our direction. We believe that our virtues strengthen our why.
