A must read:

Viktor Frankl, one of the great psychiatrists of the twentieth century, survived the death camps of N**i Germany. His little book, Man’s Search for Meaning, is one of those life-changing books that everyone should read.

Frankl once told the story of a woman who called him in the middle of the night to calmly inform him she was about to commit su***de. Frankl kept her on the phone and talked her through her depression, giving her reason after reason to carry on living. Finally she promised she would not take her life, and she kept her word.

When they later met, Frankl asked which reason had persuaded her to live?

"None of them", she told him.

What then influenced her to go on living, he pressed?

Her answer was simple, it was Frankl’s willingness to listen to her in the middle of the night. A world in which there was someone ready to listen to another's pain seemed to her a world in which it was worthwhile to live.

Often, it is not the brilliant argument that makes the difference. Sometimes the small act of listening is the greatest gift we can give.

THE GARDENER'S SON

Moral Story Of The Day.

A father saw that his 11-year-old son was crying silently. He asked him.

"What's the matter, son?"

The young boy replied.
"My rich classmates mocked, called me son of a gardener. They said that my father lives only on the money he earns from watering and feeding plants for people"

The father paused for a moment, then said.

"Come with me son, let's plant some flowers. It might cheer you up"

He held his hand and walked him to the garden, then he took out some flower seeds, and said.

"Let's carry out an experiment. We will plant two flowers seperately. I will care for one, and you will care for the other. I will water mine with clean water from the lake but you will water yours with dirty water from the pond. We shall see the outcome in the weeks to come"

The son was delighted as he joined his father in planting the flowers. It took them some days to finally germinate the flower seeds. They cared for them respectively and watched them grow.

Later on, the father brought his son to the garden, and said to him.

"Look at the two flowers and tell me your observation"

The boy responded.
"My flower looks better and healthier than yours. How is that even possible when your water is cleaner?"

The father smiled, then said.

"That's because dirty water doesn't stop a plant from growing, rather it serves as organic fertilizer to help it flourish. You see son, there are some people who put you down in life, mock your dreams, and throw dirt on you. Always remember that there's nothing wrong with you, it is their ego they have to satisfy. So, don't let the harsh words from people affect you, instead, let it encourage you into being a better person. And doing so, you will be like the plant and will flourish even in the midst of dirt like negativity and harsh words.

Everyone knows the fruits in the first frame are called dates. It is called Tamar in Hebrew. The dates from Arabia were called Tamar-e-Arab by the merchants.

Now see the fruit in the second frame. This pod-like fruit is very famous in the Indian Subcontinent. It contains an edible pulp. Nowdays, it is used in many countries for cuisines & medicines. When Arab merchants first came to India, they found this sweet & sour fruit to be of the same colour as dates.

They liked it very much so they named it Tamar-e-Hind, means a date like fruit from Hindustan (Hind or India). They took it with them to introduce it to European countries.

So just think when they introduced it to Europe.

Try to pronounce “Tamar-E-Hind” in European accent.

THAT’S HOW WE GOT THE NAME ‘TAMARIND’!
