The digital battlefield came alive as student gamers from across various Kalyes clashed in this yearโ€™s CICS TECHNOFUSION 2025: Kanto Esports Tournamentโ€”a thrilling showdown that showcased not only gaming prowess but also teamwork, determination, and community pride.

The recently concluded Kanto Esports Tournament 2025 brought together some of the most skilled and passionate student gamers from different Kalyes in an electrifying display of strategy, teamwork, and digital domination.

The Mobile Legends competition was intense, with EBAโ€™T ADAN from Kalye Ango dominating the battlefield to seize first place having the score of 3-0, not letting the team of Kalye Manda steal their spotlight in the battlefield.

Following closely behind was TEAM-ANG from Kalye Manda, earning second place, while Dinag Express from Kalye Dinag rounded out the winners' circle with a strong finish in third place.
In the scheduled Call of Duty: Mobile match, Kalye Duma was awarded a default win and advanced without firing a single shot, as Kalye Kidnon failed to show up for the tournament.

The winners not only brought home cash prizes and certificates of recognition, but also a glory that they gave to their respective Kalyes.

The formidable squad showcased exceptional tactical mastery and seamless team coordination throughout the bracket, ultimately claiming the coveted first-place title as their strategic prowess and synchronized plays proved to be a winning formula against a field of determined contenders.

Hot on their heels, securing a well-earned second place, was the Kayle Dinag team who captivated the crowd with their clutch plays and remarkable resilience when faced with intense pressure.

Rounding out the top three and claiming the third-place spot were the Lakers of Kalye Duma who capped off a well-fought campaign, showcasing consistent performance and strategic adaptability throughout the tournament.

This thrilling Valorant bracket not only highlighted the impressive talent within the CICS community but also underscored the strategic depth and exciting gameplay that defines Valorant.

With adrenaline-fueled entries in the Battle of the Bands, the Runway Challenge, and the Sikad Sayaw Challenge, CICSmars brought unmatched energy, creativity, and spiritโ€”turning the gym into a powerhouse of talent and college pride.

Kalye Dinag asserted its dominance, bagging both the first-place medals in the Battle of the Bands and the Sikad Sayaw Challenge, while Kalye Gilmoโ€™s Nikki Dimaano dazzled her way into gold in the Runway Challenge.

Kalye Ango landed second and third in the Sikad Sayaw Challenge and Battle of the Bands, respectively.

Alongside Dimaanoโ€™s triumph, Kalye Gilmo secured second in the battle of the bands, while Kalye Duma brought home their own share of trophies, winning third in the Sikad Sayaw Challenge, and with Kriztel Garcia winning third in the Runway Challenge.

Gian Espina from Kalye Manda prevailed third in the Runway Challenge.

"Winning this runway challenge means a lot to me because it proves that creativity doesnโ€™t need to be expensive just resourceful. I used broken computer parts, simple materials like carton, paper, and duct tape, and still managed to turn them into something meaningful and eye-catching. This win inspires me to continue exploring my imagination, and it reminds me that with passion and effort, anything is possible." Dimaano, Runway Challenge champion, stated in an interview.

The night concluded with cheers as the CICS community celebrated not only the victories but the incredible talent and camaraderie displayed across all categories.

Blazing pens and brilliant minds took center stage as the College of Informatics and Computing Sciences (CICS) showcased its finest student-writers at the writing competitions held as part of the Liwasang Literatura Category of TECHNOFUSION 2025: SITIO ONSE, the collegeโ€™s premier legacy event.

The challenges brought together CICSians to compete in essay writing, poem writing, and reverse poetry competitionsโ€”serving as a platform for artistic expression through the literary arts.

Kalye Ango showed dominance as they took home three podium finishes, asserting their creative edge in multiple categories.

Kalye Duma and Kalye Dinag followed closely, each securing two medals.

In the essay writing challenge, Kalye Ango swept the boardโ€”sans third placeโ€”with Eunice Angela Dela Roca and Kit Brendan Orlanes winning first and second place, respectively, while Julianne Antoinette Deduque from Kalye Kidnon bagged the third-place accolade, rounding out a highly contested category.

Kirsten Roan Dumlao from Kalye Dinag claimed the top spot in the poem writing challenge, followed by Jiro Nino Angelo Carag from Kalye Manda, and Sandara Bajio from Kalye Duma for the second and third place finishes, respectively.

Following her third place win in the poem writing challenge, Bajio triumphed once again, taking first place in the reverse poetry challenge, while Lizette Macalindol added to Kalye Dinagโ€™s medal tally with a second place finish, followed by Kalye Angoโ€™s Haidie Fanoga who claimed third place.

In an interview with Orlanes, he expressed his elation over this achievement, underscoring that he remained hopeful that the strength of his content would make up for the delay of his submission, as he felt confident and proud of what he had written on the given topic.

Upon learning about his win, Orlanes shared that he felt genuinely happy, describing the moment as a personal affirmationโ€”proof that he was still capable of achieving great things.

"To answer the question on what I felt after winning the essay writing contestโ€”of course, I am happy! Itโ€™s such a simple word, but hey, it means a lot to me. I say this is a 'Kaya ko pa rin pala' moment for me."

The writing challenges under Liwasang Literatura concluded with resounding success, highlighting the creative depth of CICS students and reinforcing the role of literary arts in TECHNOFUSION 2025.

Bearing Kalye Angoโ€™s name in the Extemporaneous and Oratorical Speech Challenges, Rennel Senyahan snagged both first-place finishes from the two speech-oriented contests held as part of the Liwasang Literatura Category of TECHNOFUSION 2025: SITIO ONSE.

Senyahan outperformed five competitors in the Extemporaneous Speech Challenge, while in the Oratorical Speech Challenge, he triumphed over a larger field, edging out eight other contestants to claim victory.

His oratorical piece revolved around the importance of going beyond traditional classroom learningโ€”especially for students in CICS Alangilanโ€”and actively engaging with real-world applications of technology.

Yrish Pine from Kalye Duma clinched second in the Extemporaneous Speech Challenge, followed by Kalye Dinagโ€™s Jhasper Ramirez who finished third.

Oratorical Speech Challenge podium finishers featured second-place finisher Stella Abigail Verana from Kalye Duma, and Kalye Dinagโ€™s Lance Buenviaje who scored third place.

In an interview with Senyahan, he stated that he hadnโ€™t expected to win first place in both the extemporaneous and oratorical speech contestsโ€”especially since he felt unprepared for the formerโ€”but emphasized that speaking from the heart and with sincerity mattered more to him than winning.

โ€œEven after winning the oratorical speech, I still couldnโ€™t fully process it. There were many participants who looked very prepared and confident, so it felt surreal. Overall, I really appreciate the recognition, and it made me realize how rewarding it is to put in effort and do things with heart not just for the sake of winning, but because you truly believe in what youโ€™re saying.โ€

The speech competitions under TECHNOFUSION serve as a platform for students to amplify their voices, sharpen their critical thinking, and inspire changeโ€”proving that in a fast-evolving world, the power of words remains timeless.

Bringing together minds and hands of wit and strategy, the Robotics Techathlon Challenge kicked off as one of the Academic Competitions in partnership with Student Coders for Resourceful and Innovative Programming Techniques (SCRIPT) under TECHNOFUSION 2025: SITIO ONSE.

The competition featured a series of subcategories, namely, Track Mania, Robo Grand Prix, Pindutin Mo Ako, and Royal Rumble, each with their own objectives to be accomplished by the participants using pre-programmed robots provided by 4th year Computer Science students. These were operated via a remote controller (RC) mobile application.

Out of nine contenders in the competition, Kalye Duma players Chester King S. Calog and Gadiel Gospel L. Manalo clinched the top two spots with 33 and 22 points, respectively, while Nielle E. Barcelona from Kalye Kidnon seized the third place, following the former closely with just a point difference.

The competition opened with Track Mania as the first category, wherein the goal was to reach the end of the elevated playing track without falling or touching the floor by maneuvering the robot using an RC.

Barcelona started off strong with 23.51 seconds, followed by Manalo with a record of 27.28 seconds, and Maria Lourdes M. Magnaye from Kalye Kidnon joined the trio with a final runtime of 46.15 seconds.

With the next category, Robo Grand Prix (RGP), being a race against the clock, Calog secured the 10 points for RGP with 24.66 seconds, Oliver Luis Aromin of Kalye Manda earned seven points with 24.80 seconds, and Barcelona landed in the top three again with 26.06 seconds, earning five points.

Calog captured another 10 points in the succeeding category, Pindutin Mo Ako (PMA), then came John Daniel M. Labiano of Kalye Gilmo as the seven-point winner and Manalo as the five-point winner. To win in this category, the players had to press their opponentsโ€™ robotsโ€™ dip switch first, which activated the LED lights attached to the robot and disabled remote controlling mechanisms.

Bringing the event to a close, the Techathlon ended with an epic showdown of the bots in the Royal Rumble category in which participants had to emerge as the last robot standing with the dip switch not pressed by all co-players.

On a roll, Calog was once again hailed as the top placer for this category with ten points, followed by Manalo with seven, and Paul Vincent A. Calvo of Kalye Kidnon with five.

Great minds clashed in the Hackathon Challenge held as part TECHNOFUSION 2025: SITIO ONSE, wherein participants from different Kalyes formed teams and worked together to solve real problems by creating innovative and useful prototypes for apps or systems, showcasing their creativity, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities in the given time frame.

Kalye Ango brought home first place, presenting an application named CARA that rivals, if not, outshines common communication apps by providing a solution to real-time problems faced by educational institutions, particularly to the College of Informatics and Computing Sciences โ€“ Alangilan.

Kalye Kidnon obtained second place, followed by Kalye Duma for the third place.

A brief statement was provided by Mann Lester Magbuhosโ€”a member of Kalye Angoโ€”to which he shared his experiences and key values in joining this competition.

"The most valuable part for me is the minutes before presenting. The nervousness that took over but also at the same time, the excitement to share your idea. The reason is that, at the end of the day you have to make others understand your vision while also knowing that not everyone would agree. And para sa akin that is the most valuable part because it reminds me of the fact na even though I have the best idea, if I can't pitch it properly, then nothing will happen." Magbuhos stated.

In celebration of TECHNOFUSION 2025: SITIO ONSE, the College of Informatics and Computing Sciences hosted the Capture the Flag (CTF) Challenge at BatStateU, TNEU Alangilan Campus.

Hersey Anne V. Odasco of Kalye Ango emerged victorious, securing first place, followed by Jave Anthony T. Espiritu of Kalye Gilmo in second and John Carl T. Cueto of Kalye Dinag finished in third.

Odasco outperformed nine other competitors in a grueling three-hour competition, showcasing exceptional skill in problem-solving.

The CTF Challenge followed a Jeopardy-style format and included six categories: Cryptography, Binary Exploitation, Reverse Engineering, Forensics, Web Exploitation, and Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT).

According to Odasco, the competition was both mentally and physically exhausting.

She shared that the most intense part was the final hour when the leaderboard was hidden, heightening the tension and putting everyone's composure to the test.

However, she was not present during the awarding ceremony on April 29 and only learned about her victory through her classmates afterward, as the news came as a genuine surprise.

โ€œI really didnโ€™t expect that outcome. I was very nervous, to the point that I didnโ€™t even want to know the final results. I simply gave it my best and focused on learning as much as I could from the experience,โ€ Odasco said.

Beyond the win, Odasco emphasized the value of the experience itself, reflecting on how the challenge pushed her limits and helped her grow both technically and personally.

โ€œWinning the challenge was truly an honor, and Iโ€™m thankful just to have had the chance to participate. It was a great learning experience, and I really appreciate the opportunity to grow and challenge myself through the competition.โ€
