Hands at Work, Hearts for Service
The sound of brooms sweeping against concrete echoed through the campus as students moved from one classroom to another. Dust rose from forgotten corners, chairs scraped against floors, and laughter occasionally broke through the morning air. It was June 5, the final day of Brigada Eskwela.
Under the heat of the early morning sun, groups of students spread across the campus with cleaning materials in hand. Some swept classroom floors, while others wiped windows clouded by months of dust. A few worked quietly, focused on the task before them, while others exchanged jokes and stories as they worked side by side.
At first glance, the activity seemed simple: clean the school and prepare it for the opening of classes. Yet beneath the routine tasks was something less visible. Student who rarely spoke to one another found themselves working together. Some strangers became teammates for the day, united by a common responsibility.
As hours passed, the change became easier to notice. Dusty corners disappeared. Chairs were neatly arranged. Classrooms looked ready for learning once again.
By noon, signs of exhaustion began to show. Faces glistened with sweat, and tired hands rested briefly on broom handles. Yet despite the fatigue, the atmosphere remained light. Conversations continued, laughter echoed across the grounds, and students pushed through the final tasks together.
Brigada Eskwela has been a long tradition that encourages cooperation, and this yearβs final day of Brigada reflected that spirit. Students, parents, and teachers worked hand in hand, helping one another finish tasks and sharing responsibility for the spaces they use every day.
