4th Bago Congress and Cultural Festival 2025 Unites Indigenous Communities in Sta. Lucia, Ilocos Sur

Sta. Lucia, Ilocos Sur came alive with color and culture as it hosted the 4th Bago Congress and Cultural Festival 2025, led by Mayor Joseph Simon Valdez. With the theme “Patibkeren ti puli a Bago”, the event celebrated unity and heritage among the Bago community.

Visitors and guests from across Northern Luzon joined the festivities, which featured performances from 6 LGUs namely, Candon City, Banayoyo, Sta. Lucia, Sta. Cruz, Sigay and Salcedo) showcasing their unique indigenous traditions. A vibrant exhibit of local crafts and a trade fair, including Aluminak, highlighted the community’s creativity and economic potential, specially the host town, Sta. Lucia.

The festival was graced by local leaders and other respected IP Leaders across Northern Luzon, including Candon City Mayor Eric Singson, Vice Governor of Ilocos Sur Ryan Singson, Baguio City Congressman Mauricio Domogan, Baguio City Councilor Vladimir Cayabas, NCIP Chairman Grace Pascua, all of whom reaffirmed their commitment to cultural preservation and community empowerment.

The festival stood as a proud tribute to cultural preservation, youth empowerment, and the enduring spirit of the Bago people. As the President of Bago Congress, Florante S. Gerdan said, “Huwag tayong mahiya na sabihing isa tayong IP.”

"KARARAG, The Art of Becoming," Unveils Prayers in Colors at Pugad Ni Art Studio✨

Baguio City, October 22, 2025 — In a fusion of creativity and spirit, twelve trailblazing artists from SIDDAAW Ilocano Creatives, in partnership with Aluminak, brought "KARARAG: The Art of Becoming" to life at Pugad Ni Art Studio Wednesday night. The exhibit, a tapestry of prayers and aspirations woven through vibrant art, drew art enthusiasts, local leaders, and guests to witness the power of expression.

The launch kicked off with two of Baguio City’s art legends, Mr. Benhur Villanueva Jr. And Mr. Buddy Cabrera, including Sir Art Lozano himself, who ignited the crowd with inspiring words. Ms. Universe Cebu, alongside Councilors Yangot and Vladimir, cut the ribbon, ushering attendees into a world where art breathes intention.

The artists, led by Sir Marlon Ponsoy, shared intimate stories behind their pieces—each a prayer, each a journey. The night danced to Baguio Gold and Blue Corn's rhythms as guests & artists mingled, inspired by works that blurred boundaries between struggle and hope. "KARARAG isn’t just art—it’s becoming," said Master Marlon, as he thanked Pugad Ni Art Studio, participating artists and the legends who amplified their voice.

"KARARAG: The Art of Becoming" now calls Pugad Ni Art Studio home from October 22 to November 14, 2025, inviting all to witness Ilocano creativity’s heartbeat.

The Municipality of Sta. Barbara proudly invites everyone to join the celebration of its 284th founding anniversary on October 30, 2025.

The day begins with a Bike Race at 6:00 AM at the Multi-Purpose Gym, Maningding, followed by a Thanksgiving Mass at 7:00 AM at the Sta. Barbara Arena. The morning festivities continue with a Cultural Show Presentation at 8:00 AM featuring the theme “Manliket tayo… Agew na Sta. Barbara Iselebra!”, highlighting songs, folk dances, and local talents that showcase the town’s rich culture and heritage.

Simultaneously, the Agew na Pasasalamat (Patmos) will be held at the Multi-Purpose Gym, Maningding, giving thanks for the blessings and achievements of the municipality.

Capping off the day’s festivities, a Live Concert will take place at 7:00 PM at the Sta. Barbara Public Auditorium, an evening of music, unity, and celebration for all residents.

Let us all come together in the spirit of pride and gratitude as we honor Sta. Barbara’s enduring legacy and vibrant culture.
