PRO7 STRENGTHENS OPLAN BULABOG, OPLAN BAKAL SITA IN SUPPORT OF SILG & CPNP’S SAFE CITIES INITIATIVE

The Police Regional Office 7 (PRO7) has strengthened the implementation of OPLAN Bulabog and OPLAN Bakal Sita across Central Visayas following the directive of Secretary of the Interior and Local Government Juanito Victor Remulla to strictly enforce public order under the national government’s Safe Cities initiative.

Under OPLAN Bulabog, police units are intensifying operations against street-level offenses and disorderly conduct such as drinking in public places, illegal street gambling including cara y cruz, loud videoke sessions, catcalling, and other acts that disturb peace and order in communities. Meanwhile, OPLAN Bakal Sita continues to be conducted through strategic checkpoints aimed at intercepting loose fi****ms, illegal weapons, and other contraband that may be used in the commission of crimes.

PRO7 Regional Director Redrico A. Maranan said the strengthened implementation of these operational plans underscores the Philippine National Police’s commitment to supporting national directives that promote discipline, safety, and order in communities.

“The Police Regional Office 7 fully supports the directive of Secretary Remulla to strengthen the enforcement of laws and ordinances that preserve peace and public order. Through the intensified implementation of OPLAN Bulabog and OPLAN Bakal Sita, our police personnel, in close coordination with local government units and barangay officials, will continue to ensure that our communities remain safe, orderly, and secure for the public,” PBGen Maranan said.

He added that police visibility will be sustained in communities, particularly in public places and near schools, as part of the broader effort to deter criminality and enhance the sense of security among residents.

PRO7 assured the public that it will continue to work closely with local government units and barangay authorities in fully implementing the Safe Cities initiative and maintaining peace and order throughout Central Visayas.

NBI-7 REGIONAL DIRECTOR PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO PRO7

Atty. Jose Ermie A. Monsano, newly installed Regional Director of the National Bureau of Investigation Region 7, paid a courtesy visit to Police Regional Office 7 (PRO7) at Camp Sergio Osmeña, Sr., Cebu City on March 30, 2026.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both agencies to discuss operational concerns and explore areas of collaboration in maintaining peace and order across Central Visayas. The discussion also included coordination mechanisms between PRO7 and NBI-7 in strengthening security preparations and enhancing law enforcement efforts in the region. Preparations related to the upcoming ASEAN Summit in May were likewise briefly discussed as part of broader security coordination.

PBGen Maranan expressed his appreciation for the visit and emphasized the importance of strong partnerships between law enforcement agencies in ensuring the safety of the public. He noted that continuous collaboration and open dialogue enable both institutions to respond more effectively to security concerns affecting the region.

“We are thankful for the visit of Regional Director Monsano and for the opportunity to exchange insights between PRO7 and NBI. PRO7 REINFORCES CYBER PATROL TO CURB ENERGY-RELATED DISINFORMATION

In line with the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) commitment to support the national government in addressing disinformation amid rising oil prices, Regional Director PBGen Redrico A. Maranan, Police Regional Office (PRO) 7, has directed the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit to strengthen cyber patrols against individuals and groups spreading false information on social media platforms.

PBGen Maranan emphasized that the initiative aims to prevent the dissemination of misleading posts regarding energy security, supply, and pricing, which can cause unnecessary public panic and erode confidence in government efforts. “We are fully aligned with the directives of the Chief PNP. Any attempt to exploit the current energy situation to mislead our constituents will be swiftly countered and addressed. Our cyber units are committed to monitoring, verifying, and debunking disinformation circulating online,” PBGen Maranan said.

The PNP Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit will conduct round-the-clock monitoring of social media channels and collaborate closely with local police units to identify and take legal action against individuals responsible for spreading harmful fake news. This move is part of a broader nationwide strategy initiated by CPNP to safeguard public information integrity during sensitive periods affecting the economy and national security.

Earlier, PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. underscored the seriousness of energy-related disinformation, noting that misleading reports about oil supply and pricing amid the Middle East conflict could trigger unwarranted panic. Criminal charges will be filed against violators, reinforcing the PNP’s zero-tolerance policy on deliberate misinformation.

The PNP also encourages the public to remain vigilant, verify news from official sources, and report suspicious posts to local police or the Anti-Cybercrime Group. “Our goal is to ensure that communities receive accurate information and that social media is not used as a tool to create fear or confusion,” PBGen Maranan added.

PNP NABS FOUR IN ₱102.5-M COUNTERFEIT MEDICINE BUST IN MAKATI

Four individuals were arrested by operatives of the Philippine National Police in an entrapment operation targeting the sale of counterfeit medicines inside a hotel in Makati City on April 10, 2026.

The operation, conducted by the CIDG Anti-Fraud and Commercial Crimes Unit (AFCCU) in coordination with the Southern Police District, resulted in the arrest of four adult suspects who are now under police custody.

Seized from the suspects were 400 pieces of counterfeit cancer medication labeled as Keytruda 100mg/4ml, with an estimated market value of ₱102,577,500.00. Authorities said the items violate Republic Act No. 8293, or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.

Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief Philippine National Police, commended the operating units for the successful operation and stressed the gravity of the offense.

“Hindi biro ang ganitong krimen. Ang pagbebenta ng pekeng gamot ay direktang naglalagay sa panganib ng buhay ng ating mga kababayan. We will not allow these illegal activities to thrive,” he said.

He also issued a reminder to the public and a stern warning to those engaged in similar illegal activities. “Sa ating mga kababayan, be cautious and discerning when buying products, lalo na kung may kinalaman sa kalusugan. Huwag basta magtitiwala sa mga kahina-hinalang transaksyon. At sa mga gumagawa nito, this is our warning—hindi kayo makakalusot. Mananagot kayo sa batas.

The operation is part of the PNP’s intensified efforts under its Focused Agenda, particularly on Enhanced Managing Police Operations, to curb illegal trade and protect public health and safety, in support of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in ensuring consumer protection and public welfare.

The PNP assures the public of its continued commitment to decisive and responsive policing, in line with Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.
