Mayor Ryan Sabas of Champlin, the U.S. state of Minnesota, said state senator John Hoffman and state representative Melissa Hortman, as well as their spouses, were shot at home early Saturday, local media reported.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz confirmed the deaths of Hortman and her husband at a press conference.

The shooting "appears to be a politically motivated assassination," said Walz.

Pinagpapaliwanag ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) ang Precious Grace Bus Co. matapos mabigong protektahan ng bus driver at konduktor nito ang isang pasaherong may kapansanan mula sa pananakit ng ibang pasahero habang nasa biyahe sa EDSA Busway.

Sinabi ni Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon na ang hakbang ay bilang pagsunod sa kautusan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na siguruhin ang kaligtasan ng mga komyuter lalung-lalo na ang mga may kapansanan.

“Ang unang-unang responsibilidad ng gobyerno ay protektahan yung mga pinaka-vulnerable sa ating lipunan at isa sa mga pinaka-vulnerable ay mga mayroong disability. Kapag ikaw ay naka-sakay sa isang public transport, dapat pangalagaan yung safety ng lahat ng nakasakay sa PUV na yun and that was not done here,” paliwanag ni Secretary Dizon.

Pansamantalang sinuspinde ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) ang driver’s at conductor’s license nina Mark Ivann Ramos at Francis Sauro matapos nilang mabigong i-report sa Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT) na naka-istasyon sa EDSA busway maging sa pulis ang nangyaring pananakit.

Humingi naman ng paumanhin si Secretary Dizon sa pasahero at nangakong magpapa-abot ang ahensiya ng tulong sa kanya at kaniyang pamilya matapos ang insidente.

“We will provide the necessary help to Mark and his family and we sincerely apologize to them, especially to him dito sa nangyaring ito,” ani Secretary Dizon.

Makikipagtulungan din ang DOTr sa Philippine National Police (PNP) upang mahanap ang mga pasaherong nanakit at mapanagot ang mga ito.

“Kailangan mahuli ‘yung mga ‘yun. Makikipagugnayan tayo sa PNP para malaman kung sino ‘yung mga yun dahil kailangan maparusahan sila,” ayon kay Secretary Dizon.
