Current AYUDA Budget:
₱194 Billion per year is allocated for AYUDA.

It’s intended for 27 million Filipinos.
But here’s the hard truth: Not everyone gets it.
Distribution is messy, delayed, or even politicized.

Now Look at Our Electricity Reality:
We consume 110 Billion kWh per year.
At ₱10/kWh, that’s ₱1.1 Trillion in payments.
Add 12% VAT, and the government collects ₱120 Billion in taxes from the same 27 million people.

So here’s the plot twist:
What if we just REMOVE the 12% VAT on electricity?
That’s ₱120 Billion saved for consumers directly.
That means every Filipino who pays a power bill gets automatic relief, without needing to line up, apply, or beg for ayuda.

It's simple, fast, and fair.

Why This Makes Sense:

Everyone benefits not just those who “qualify.”

It lowers electric bills, making life more affordable long-term.

It eliminates government leakage, delay, and corruption in ayuda programs.

And yes, ₱120 Billion saved by households beats ₱194 Billion ayuda that doesn’t even reach all its intended recipients.

So what’s better?
Giving cash once a year that may or may not arrive?
Or permanently reducing what millions pay every month?

Marcoleta’s proposal dares to rethink the system:

“Instead of temporary relief through ayuda, let’s give lasting relief by slashing unnecessary VAT.”

Let’s rethink “government help.”
Sometimes, the best help is when the government takes less, not pretends to give more.
