Engines roared, shaking the ground as the spacecraft prepared to pierce the blue skies. Once beyond the moon, I witnessed Mother Earthโ€”cradling humanity with quiet strength along with its radiating unmatched beauty. Against the vast darkness, her brilliance stood out, reminding us that the same fragile force sustains every life we know.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has successfully launched Artemis II, a ten-day mission carrying astronauts Christina Koch, Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Jeremy Hansen farther from Earth and closer to the Moon, where they will use this rare vantage point to collaborate with scientists on Earth in conducting investigations that will guide the future of human spaceflight.

Artemis II unfolds as NASAโ€™s introductory flight test of the Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft. From traveling beyond low Earth orbit to circling around the Moon, it shows scenery of planet Earthโ€”a glimpsed of reminder through the window when looking up. The mission seeks to prove this generationโ€™s capability to journey onward to Mars and to carve a path for lifelong exploration hand-in-hand with science upon the lunar surface. Amidst the expedition, the crew not only unveiled remarkable breakthroughs but also etched yet another milestone into human history.

As one of NASAโ€™s specialists, Koch was chosen to join Artemis II. Like many children, she dreamed of reaching beyond the skies and as she grew olderโ€”having already spent nearly a year in spaceโ€”she journeyed even farther, ushering in a historic shift as the first woman to travel beyond low Earth orbit and circle the Moon. Her voyage illustrates how space exploration is evolving and through this mission, doors have now opened for a broader, more diverse generation of explorers, moving beyond the rigid mold that had confined the image of astronauts for decades.

Kochโ€™s journey to space found its foundation when she joined NASA in 2013. She honed her skills as an electrical engineer, crafting science instruments with precision and vision. Her career carried her to prolonged stays in the frozen silence of Antarctica and the stark wilderness of the Arctic, where she lived in conditions as unforgiving as the vacuum of space. NASA notes that those experiences became her training ground: the isolation of icy research stations, the pressure of survival in extreme cold, and the endurance demanded by such environments mirrored the challenges of longโ€‘duration missions beyond Earth. Because of her unwavering resilience, she proved to be exceptionally wellโ€‘suited for the rigors of human spaceflight.

Koch did not keep to herself her journey; she shared it with the world, posting a photo of herself gazing back to Earth with her braided hair floating freely in zero gravity. The image resonated deeply with everyone, especially with women and young girls because they saw not just an astronaut, but a reflection of someone who dared to dream the impossible as a child.

On Friday afternoon, Artemis II Orion capsule successfully returned from the Moon, performing a final steering maneuver before re-entry to Earth. The service module was released to expose the heat shield, which endured extreme temperatures as the capsule raced through Earthโ€™s atmosphere. During this fiery descent, radio contact was briefly lost due to plasma interference. Traveling at nearly 32 times the speed of sound, Orion slowed with parachutes and safely splashed down in the Pacific Ocean, a few hundred miles off of San Diego.

For many, the idea of traveling beyond Earth feels unimaginable. Yet Koch, Hansen, Glover, and Wiseman proved that even dreams once thought out of reach can come to life, as they shared to the world their perilous but unforgettable journey around the Moonโ€”an expedition that was more than a milestone in space exploration. At last, Artemis II was not merely a mission, but it was a promise. A promise that the next generation, gazing at the Moon with wonder, may one day journey there themselves.

A Crown Beyond the Thorns: The True Meaning of Easter Sunday
โ€Ž
โ€ŽEaster Sunday is often filled with chocolates, bright colors, and celebrationโ€”but at its heart, it tells a deeper story. It is not simply about Easter traditions; it is about the resurrection and victory of Jesus Christ.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽBefore the joy of Easter came suffering. Jesus bore pain and sacrifice on the cross, as written in The Bible: โ€œHe was pierced for our transgressionsโ€ (Isaiah 53:5). What seemed like defeat on Good Friday became the very path to redemption.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThen came the turning point. โ€œHe is not here; He has risenโ€ (Matthew 28:6). The resurrection was not just a miracleโ€”it was victory over sin and death, a reminder that glory can rise from suffering.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽBut the story did not end at the empty tomb. After His resurrection, Jesus continued His mission. He appeared to His disciples, strengthened their faith, restored those who doubted, gave the Great Commission to spread His word (Matthew 28:19โ€“20), and prepared them for the coming of the Holy Spirit. These moments show that Easter is not just about what happenedโ€”it is about what continues.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽEaster Sunday, then, is more than a celebration. It is a message: that sacrifice leads to salvation, that endings can become beginnings, and that true victory is found not in avoiding hardship, but in overcoming it.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽLong after the festivities fade, the meaning remainsโ€”resurrection, hope, and a triumph that changed everything.

Today, believers move through Holy Week with the ending already secured; resurrection is not a question, but a scheduled celebration.

The disciples did not know Easter was comingโ€”and that is the part often softened by hindsight. On that first Holy Saturday, there was no reassurance waiting at dawn, only confusion: a teacher executed, a promise now uncertain, a future that had collapsed overnight. For them, this was not a pause but an ending without explanation, marked by a silence that demanded interpretation.

When prayers go unanswered, people begin to fill the gaps: maybe the timing is wrong, maybe faith is lacking, maybe the silence means no.

Holy Saturday arrives without spectacle. No processions crowd the streets. No dramatic readings echo from church speakers. The altar remains bare. Even the story itself seems to pause, suspended between what has already happened and what has not yet been revealed.

It is the quietest day in the Christian calendarโ€”and perhaps the most familiar. It reflects a feeling people know too well: the long stretch of time when something has already been lost, but nothing has yet been restored.

Holy Saturday lives in that ambiguity, where belief is no longer supported by visible outcomes, and faith begins to look less like certainty and more like endurance. As one might say, โ€œIn the silence of Holy Saturday, when time stops and all is dark, God keeps vigil with us, waiting to break through with the resurrection lightโ€.

In that silence, when time seems to stall and darkness lingers without explanation, the absence of noise does not mean the absence of God. It is easy to mistake stillness for abandonment, to assume that unanswered prayers signal distance. Yet this quiet suggests something more intimateโ€”God not as a distant rescuer, but as one who remains, keeping vigil within the same uncertainty people endure.

There is no sudden intervention, no immediate light breaking throughโ€”only a shared waiting. And in that waiting, faith is not about seeing the outcome, but trusting that even in the dark, something unseen is already unfoldingโ€”slowly, quietly, and inevitably moving toward resurrection.

Good Friday: A Day for Reflection and Propagating Faith

Once a year, the busy world around us suddenly goes quiet. Shops close their doors, the streets become peaceful, and for a moment, the rush of daily life stops. This is Good Friday, a day when we stay in our homes to focus on our faith. It is a day for sincere reflecting.

It might seem strange to call this day "good" because it is the day we remember the death of Jesus Christ. However, it is called "Good" Friday because of the holy sacrifices that He made. People believe Jesus gave His life to save everyone from their sins. It is "good" because this showcases his acts of ultimate love and kindness. By acknowledging the darkness of the past, we prepare ourselves to appreciate the light of the future. We look back at the sacrifice made centuries ago to understand how we can act with more kindness and grace today.

On this day, the silence gives us a chance to think. Without the noise of our outdoor activities, we can look at our own lives. Good Friday serves as a narrative mirror. It asks us to look at the story of the crucifixion and see the reflection of our own livesโ€”our flaws, our mistakes, and the weight of our "sins."

By looking at the story of Jesus, we learn about forgiveness and starting over. Good Friday reminds us that even in the quietest and saddest moments, there is a deeper meaning. It is a day to stop, pray, and prepare our hearts for the hope that is coming.

โ€ŽMaundy Thursday was the day Jesus had His last supper with twelve of His disciples. During that supper, He kneeled in front of each one and washed their dusty feetโ€” an act that defied and shattered every norm of how leaders treat their followers.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽFalling in Holy Week, the day marks the beginning of Paschal Triduum, or the three-day liturgical period which includes Good Friday and Holy Saturday. These three days commemorate the passion, death, and the eventual resurrection of Jesus.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThe word โ€œmaundyโ€ stems from Jesusโ€™ simple yet powerful commandment, โ€œLove one another as I have loved youโ€.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽLike da Vinciโ€™s masterpiece hanging in Filipino homes, hope also hangs in their hearts. Hope that one day love shall suffice for the country and, above all, its people.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽUltimately, humility and compassion is not measured in religious understanding alone. Maundy Thursday commands radical love; not by force, but by awakening that innate instinct to go by nature and treat everyone equally, regardless of title or any other distinction that sets them apart.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThis Thursday, ask yourself: When all is said and all is done, have I loved enough?

In the solemn rhythm of Holy Week, Holy Wednesday often feels like a pause, a moment of stillness before the intensity of the days that follow. Yet beneath its quiet surface lies a deeply significant turning point in the Christian story, one marked by betrayal, reflection, and the looming shadow of sacrifice.

Holy Wednesday commemorates the day Judas betrayed Jesus Christ to the chief priests in exchange for thirty pieces of silver. This act, remembered across centuries, represents not just a moment of betrayal, but also a reminder of human weakness and the consequences of turning away from truth and loyalty. Because of this, the day is sometimes called โ€œSpy Wednesday,โ€ emphasizing the secrecy and deception that unfolded during that day.

Holy Wednesday carries a quieter, more reflective tone. Many churches hold simple services, encouraging the faithful to reflect. It is a day less about ritual and more about examination of conscience, of choices, and of faith.

The themes of Holy Wednesday resonate beyond religious tradition. It invites people, regardless of belief, to confront difficult questions: What does it mean to betray or be betrayed? How do we respond when faced with moral crossroads? And how can moments of failure lead to transformation?

In a modern world filled with noise and constant motion, Holy Wednesday offers something rare, a space to pause. It reminds us that before moments of great change or redemption, there is often silence, tension, and uncertainty.

As Holy Week progresses toward the sorrow of Good Friday and the hope of Easter Sunday, Holy Wednesday stands as a bridge between intention and action, loyalty and betrayal, darkness and light. It is a day that asks us not to look outward, but inward and to prepare, in stillness, for what is more to come.

Fig Tuesday: A Day of Reflection, Parables as Gospels, and Unspoken Friction
โ€Ž
โ€ŽIn a solemn celebration of Holy Week, the last seven sacred Sundays before Jesus' resurrection in Jerusalem. His last prior Tuesday was his return to the land of Godโ€”Jerusalem from Bethany.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽOn His last Tuesday, He centered His reappearance in teaching His disciples. He used a withered fig tree as an example of judgement on hypocrisy and the importance of faith. Holy Tuesday invites the faithful not into spectacle, but into reflection. It is a day where words take center stageโ€”parables, warnings, and propheciesโ€”spoken in the shadow of what is in the future.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽReligious authorities questioned His authority and teaching, but rather than be moved by itโ€”He responded with full sovereignty, He did not retreat. He delivered His most powerful wordsโ€”the Gospels, a simple stories with depth that challenged authorities at their core.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThe parable of the Ten Virgins, a story conveyed that reflects readiness and vigilanceโ€”it is a call for preparation for the unforeseen. Pair with the parable of talents delivered by Jesus, said that a gift from God should be use to serve the Lord; interpreting the disciples should build the Kingdom rather than becoming complacement. The urge responsibility and faithfullness in leveraging what one has been given.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽHis last Gospels before being crucified mirrors self-reflection, faith, and readiness for the coming of the Father. Him openly critizes the hypocrisy of certain religious leaders, challenging their authority grew tension in between. This confrontation is not merely historicalโ€”it resonates across time. It challenges institutions and individuals alike to align actions with values, to move beyond appearances and into sincerity.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽWhat makes Holy Tuesday especially poignant is its place in the Holy Week timeline. It stands just before the events of Holy Wednesdayโ€”often associated with Judas Iscariotโ€™s betrayalโ€”one of the twelve apostles. Trading Christ leading to His arrest, hardship, and crucifixion; out of greed, enviness, and demonic influence.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽHoly Tuesday, also known as Fig Tuesday, is less of rituals rather an inside reflection and faith. Gospels drive them to believe and build the Kingdom not to destroy its temple. It is a day of listening before action, of warning before consequence, of teaching before sacrifice. It is an open testimony of simple words hides deep meaning that can change perceptionโ€”criticism to open the eyes of the authorityโ€”and the willingness to hear, change, and reflect through every words shared. Above all, that hypocrisy change humans.

OPINION | Empty Tanks, Empty Promisesโ€ฆWhere is the Help?

โ€œFor many Filipinos, fuel is not a convenience. It is a survival.โ€

Fuel prices increasing. Unresponsive government looms overhead. Public Utility Vehicle drivers being left to carry the burden.

This is the harsh reality behind the ongoing fuel crisis in the Philippines. It is not just about numbers rising at gas stationsโ€”it is about the daily struggle of our Public Utility Vehicle drivers. Trycicle drivers, jeepney drivers, and others who rely on fuel to survive. For them, every increase means less income, sometimes barely enough to bring home anything at all.

On March 27, 2026, TBC News released a report that served as a haunting mirror to our nation's current state, a tricycle driver, overcoming an emotion, was forced to push his own livelihood down the street because he simply could not afford the fuel to keep it running. This heartbreaking scene is full proof that our current fuel crisis has moved beyond "economic adjustments" and has become a matter of survival.

We speak of modernization and "moving forward," yet we leave the very backbone of our streets stalled in the margins. If the nation is truly advancing, we must ask why those who drive its economy are the ones most frequently left behind. The soaring cost of gasoline is not just a number on a digital signโ€”it is a weight that is crushing the very soul of every Filipino drivers. We are told to be resilient, yet how much more can a person give when their pockets are empty and their gas tanks are dry? It is a reckless thing to say the economy is blooming when the hands that build it are trembling from exhaustion. Our driversโ€”the vibrant, pulsing heartbeat of our streets are being left to wither under the scorching sun of government inaction.

When those who toil and sweat every single day can no longer keep their heads above water, how can we truly say the nation is progressing? A countryโ€™s success should be measured by the dignity of its workers, not the height of its skyscrapers. Right now, that dignity is being traded for expensive liters of fuel, leaving the ones to drive errands for a living to carry the heavy burden of a system that seems to have forgotten they exist.

A nation isn't truly moving forward if the people driving it are being left behind. We cannot call it "progress" when the cost of a full tank means an empty stomach. If our drivers can no longer afford the road, then as a country, we aren't really going anywhere.
