WATCH: Defense lawyer Carlo Narvasa questioned prosecution witness John Mark Calilung, a senior agent of the NBI, during the impeachment trial as he testified on the agency’s investigation into Vice President Sara Duterte’s alleged threats against President Bongbong Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and former Speaker Martin Romualdez.

During cross-examination, Calilung acknowledged that he has no personal knowledge of whether any of the three alleged offended parties personally filed a criminal complaint.

Narvasa then asked, “Did you really investigate this case?”—a question that drew an immediate objection from private prosecutor Amando Ligutan.

House Impeachment Prosecutor Terry Ridon reminded Vice President Sara Duterte that she is not a mere spectator in the impeachment proceedings, stressing that she is the one facing trial and should personally appear to defend herself.

“Hindi siya cheerleader ng impeachment proceedings na ito. Siya po ay nasasakdal. She has to be here for herself,” Ridon said.
