PDEA DESTROYS CLOSE TO ₱6-BILLION WORTH OF DANGEROUS DRUGS IN CAVITE Including Shabu and Dimethyl Sulfone seizures in MICP and Pampanga

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) destroyed ₱5,968,744,462.01 worth of dangerous drugs and other substances today (Friday, October 20, 2023) at the Integrated Waste Management, Inc. (IWMI), Barangay Aguado, Trece Martires City, Cavite.

The total weight of destroyed illegal drugs amounted to 1,019,204.7581 grams. Majority of the illegal drugs destroyed were 471,478.0639 grams of shabu and 312,993.9424 grams of Ma*****na, and 208,909.00 grams of Dimethyl Sulfone. Included in the destroyed stockpile of illegal drugs is the 274 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu seized at the Manila International Container Port (MICP) on October 6, 2023, as well as 208 kilograms of Dimethyl Sulfone - a shabu “cutting agent” recovered by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Mabalacat, Pampanga on August 25, 2023.

Present during the destruction activity were: Aurelio “Dong” D. Gonzales Jr., Senior Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Pampanga 3rd District Representative; Robert Ace S. Barbers, Surigao del Norte 2nd District Representative and Chairman of the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs; Dan S. Fernandez, Santa Rosa City Lone District Representative and Chairman of the House Committee on Public Order and Safety; Jorge “Patrol” Bustos, PATROL Party List Representative and Chairperson, House Committee on Veteran’s Affairs and Welfare; and Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Chairman Secretary Catalino Cuy.

The destroyed dangerous drugs are evidence seized from anti-drug operations conducted by PDEA together with the Philippine National Police (PNP), NBI, and other counterpart law enforcement and military units. The swift prosecution of drug cases and rapid inventory, testing and presentation of seized drug evidence enabled the courts to order the immediate destruction of these dangerous drugs.

These efforts highlight PDEA’s resolve to destroy all illegal drug evidence at the soonest possible time. In similar fashion, 3.7 tons of dangerous drugs worth ₱19.9 billion was destroyed by PDEA in March this year – the largest volume of destroyed dangerous drugs in the country’s history.

PDEA HOLDS SEMINAR-WORKSHOP ON THE UNIFIED MANUAL IN
THE INVESTIGATION AND PROSECUTION OF ILLEGAL DRUGS CASES

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency - Legal and Prosecution Service (LPS) together with the Plans and Operations Service (POS) formally opened the Seminar Workshop on the Unified Manual in the Investigation and Prosecution of Illegal Drugs Cases which will be held from October 10 to 12, 2023 at the PDEA National Headquarters in Quezon City.

Fifty-Eight participants composed of Lawyers, Drug Enforcement Officers, Chemists and other Administrative and Technical Personnel from PDEA National Services and Offices will take part in the Seven Modules of the Seminar. Topics covered in the in the course include Arrests, Searches and Seizures, Inquest and Preliminary Investigations, and Controlled Delivery Operations.

Following the initial Seminar-Workshop on The Unified Manual which PDEA conducted together with the Special Projects Division of the Office of the Prosecutor General and the Department of Justice, this Seminar-Workshop ensures that PDEA frontline and operational support units are knowledgeable with the contents of the unified manual.

PDEA Deputy Director General for Administration Assistant Secretary Israel Ephraim T. Dickson graced the opening program of the Seminar-Workshop together with other PDEA Directors and Officers.

PNP Announces Massive Drug Bust: Suspected Shabu Worth PHP 2.2 Billion Seized in Joint Operation

In a press briefing held on October 6, 2023, the Philippine National Police (PNP) revealed the discovery of a colossal stash of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of PHP 2.2 billion. This significant bust, achieved through the collaborative efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies, deals a severe blow to illegal drug trafficking in the Philippines.

The press briefing was attended by key officials and representatives from various agencies, including PNP Chief, PGEN Benjamin Acorda Jr, USEC Gilbert Cruz, Executive Director of the Presidential Anti Organized Crime Commission, Bureau of Customs Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence, Juvymax Uy, NCRPO Regional Director, PBGEN Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr, Acting PNP DEG Director PCOL Dionisio Bartolome, Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) District Collector, Romeo Allan Rosales, and PDEA-NCR Regional Director, Emerson Rosales.

Prior to the discovery of the illegal drugs, intelligence agents of the PNP received information about a large shipment of illegal drugs. PNP DEG in coordination with the Presidential Anti Organized Crime Commission and PDEA passed this information to the Bureau of Customs.

The operation, which took place on October 5, 2023, is a testament to the coordinated efforts of several law enforcement units.

A staggering 323,184 grams of suspected shabu were intercepted and seized inside Container Freight Station 3 at the Bureau of Customs, Manila International Container Terminal, Isla Puting Bato, Brgy 20 Tondo, Manila. These narcotics were concealed within 450 boxes found inside the container at the customs facility, with seventy of these boxes confirmed to contain the illicit substance.

During the operation, law enforcement personnel discovered 1,109 cling-wrapped packages, each containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu. The packages were further wrapped in carbon paper and aluminum foil. The estimated street value of this illegal haul is an astonishing PHP 2,197,651,200.00.

The suspect or suspects involved in this massive drug shipment remain at large as the investigation continues.

In a statement, PNP Chief PGen Benjamin Acorda Jr. commended the successful operation, emphasizing the importance of inter-agency collaboration in the fight against illegal drugs. He stated, “This joint interdiction operation is a testament to the effectiveness of inter-agency collaboration in the fight against illegal drugs. We are determined to bring those responsible to justice and continue our unwavering commitment to protecting our communities from the scourge of illegal narcotics.”

The seized drug evidence will undergo laboratory examination at the PDEA Crime Laboratory as the investigation continues to uncover the circumstances behind the shipment of these illegal drugs. The operation was conducted transparently, with body-worn cameras recording every crucial moment to ensure accountability and adherence to proper procedures.

This joint operation sends a strong message that law enforcement agencies are resolute in their pursuit of eradicating illegal drug activities, safeguarding the nation’s security, and upholding the rule of law. The collaborative efforts of various agencies, as witnessed in this operation, reflect the commitment of the Philippine National Police and its partners to a drug-free Philippines.

SPAIN HOME AFFAIRS ATTACHÉ VISITS PDEA

Chief Inspector José Angel Serrano Dominguez - Home Affairs Attaché of the
Embassy of Spain in the Philippines visited the National Headquarters of the Philippine
Drug Enforcement Agency in Quezon City today, September 27, 2023.

The Spanish Attaché was warmly received by PDEA Deputy Director General for
Administration Assistant Secretary Israel Ephraim T. Dickson and Atty. Jacquelyn L De
Guzman – Director of the PDEA International Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Service.

Spain Home Affairs Attaché José Angel Serrano Dominguez was responsible for
securing the Spanish Embassies in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in Algeria during the 1997 civil war, and in Rome in 1990 after a series of terrorist attacks against Spanish interests in Italy.

He is currently responsible for providing support functions to the Head Office of
Diplomatic Missions promoting relations with Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines.
The visit from the Spanish Attaché was endorsed by Ambassador Miguel Utray of the
Embassy of Spain in the Philippines.

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - A successful buy-bust operation was conducted this morning September 14, 2023 at Sitio San Roque, Brgy. Lapasan this City with the confiscation of more or less Five (5) grams of shabu with an estimated market value of Thirty Four Thousand Pesos (Php34,000.00).

Arrested suspect was Ian Cañedo Basas, a top priority drug personality in the above-mentioned city.

Further, arrested suspect will be facing charges for violation of RA 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

This successful anti-drug operation was conducted by operatives of PDEA ROX Misamis Oriental Provincial Office.

UPDATE: QCPD 24-Hour Anti-Illegal Drug Campaign

QCPD Nabs Drug Peddler; Seizes Php131K Worth of Illegal Drugs

QUEZON CITY, September 13, 2023---—The Novaliches Police Station (PS 4) under PLTCOL Jerry Castillo reported the arrest of Alexandra Baclao, 23 years old and a resident of Block 9, Lot 9, Kaularan St., Brgy. Commonwealth in Quezon City today, September 13, 2023.

Based on the report, PS 4 operatives carried out a buy-bust operation after a concerned citizen reported the illegal drug activity of the suspect. A police officer acted as a poseur buyer and bought Php16,500.00 worth of kush from the suspect, and at the given pre-arranged signal, she was arrested at 6:00 AM today along Quirino Highway beside Nova Mall, Brgy. Nova Proper, Novaliches, Quezon City.

Confiscated from the suspect were 76 grams of kush worth Php91,200.00; 0.033 Oz. liquid ma*****na worth Php40,000.00; one (1) piece of paper bag; one (1) piece of Muha Med Big box; ten pieces of Muha Med Cart box; a cellular phone; one (1) piece of identification card; and the buy-bust money.

The suspect will be charged for violation of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

"We will continue to pursue and suppress such illegal activities in our city to maintain peace and order.” The QCPD Director, PBGEN Redrico A Maranan said as he commended the PS 4 operatives for their diligence in arresting the suspect.

PDEA, PNP BUSTED A CO-LEADER OF CRIMINAL GANG IN ILOCOS SUR

The joint operatives of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency- Ilocos Sur Provincial Office (PDEA ISPO) and Candon City Police Station arrested an alleged co-leader of a criminal gang during a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Nicolas, Candon City, Ilocos Sur.

PDEA RO 1 Regional Director, Director III Joel B Plaza identified the suspect as Elvis G. Imperial, who was arrested at around 12:40 PM today, September 20, 2023.

Seized during the operation were one piece of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, weighing more or less 0.5 gram, worth P3,400.00, a mobile phone, a scooter, a lighter and the buy-bust money.

A case for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of RA 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against the suspect, and now detained at Candon City Police Station. | via PDEA RO 1
