In an effort to enhance disaster preparedness among students and staff, a Simultaneous Earthquake and Fire Drill was successfully conducted today, March 13, at Diffun Central School Integrated SPED Center gym.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) under the leadership of FINSP Enrique M. Cruz, Acting Municipal Fire Marshal, represented by SF01 Cesar Bungac, SF01 Michael De Guzman, SF01 Felipe Ogasna, and SO3 Rolando Lagmay, facilitated the event alongside interns from Quirino State University.
The activity aimed to equip learners with essential knowledge and skills in responding effectively to earthquakes and fire incidents.
During the drill, students and teachers practiced the "Duck, Cover, and Hold" technique for earthquake response, followed by a guided evacuation to designated safe areas.
The BFP personnel then demonstrated proper fire suppression techniques, including the correct use of fire extinguishers. Learners had the opportunity to participate hands-on, ensuring they could confidently operate fire extinguishers in case of emergencies.
The event highlighted the importance of disaster preparedness, emphasizing quick response, safety measures, and coordination during emergencies.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sebastian S. Ignacio, Public Schools District Supervisor of Diffun I and OIC School head of DCS-ISC expressed gratitude to the BFP officers and the QSU interns for their dedication in promoting safety awareness among learners and teachers.
Through these continuous drills and training sessions, DCS-ISC remains committed to fostering a culture of preparedness and resilience among its learners and staff.
