I have heard this more than a hundred times in my 5 years of practice. Parents still allowing their kids to watch videos most of the day because in their words "educational naman."

Let me tell you the truth... This does not help with communication. These things/videos will probably help them in school when they begin studying about letters and numbers but too much screen time, (even if educational) leads to delays in speech and language. They do not get to practice the give and take part of conversations because they spend most of their time just watching.

Hindi napapractice ang kakayahan nila mag-isip, magprocess ng mga tanong at sumagot dahil nakababad sila sa screen.

What to do? Talk to them. Play with them. Replace screen time with play time. Ask them what they are doing. Describe the objects around them. Ask them questions. ☺️
