The future of cinema is given hope when Shane entered. She's a new student of XU, and also a new member of the Xavier Ateneo Film Society, who is one of the passionate film enthusiasts in the community, and has been an active member ever since.

From participating internal screenings and being part of the film productions, to becoming the next director of our upcoming short film—4th Floor Library

We celebrate Shane as she continues to advocate the art and development of cinema in our city with her passion and love towards cinema.

The Film Crusaders celebrate the women of our fellow Xavier Film Society of the XU Senior High School — Likhang Sining's Xavier Film Society department.

The aspiring filmmaker and media practitioner, Anika, has explored the various technical aspects of filmmaking, leading her to understand how the media framework operates.

With her media skills, she used her power to spread narratives with her life advocacies, making a positive impact, and representing the lens of the new generation.

The Film Crusaders celebrate the women of our fellow Xavier Film Society of the XU Senior High School — Likhang Sining's Xavier Film Society department.

The aspiring Director, Pia, after discovering the art of cinema, is set to pursue her passion by directing films, guiding the crew with her leadership, photography, and cinematography skills to achieve the dream vision.

We appreciate Pia as she contributed to spreading the significance of cinema in Cagayan de Oro, when she headed the CineMatics basic filmmaking workshop that enlightened XU Senior High School students.

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐚

Sam, one of the first members of the film crusaders, is the first female actor to be featured, starring in the 'foley advertisement' film, 'Through the Lens of Purpose' improvised film, and now, 'When Simon Met Samantha' short film.

She has greatly contributed with her performing and story-telling skills to the film organization which impacted positively to the community, showing that there is strength in women representation in the film industry.

Pat, one of the first members of the film organization, produced the first ever film of XAFS entitled, "Through the Lens of Purpose," an improvised filmmaking during the OrSem org-tour of 2023.

Her filmmaking talents contributed beyond the Xavier Ateneo Film Society organization, proving that there is more to the potential of films, and we celebrate her existence for that.

Ann Rivas, who grew up idealizing Philippine cinema, was the outspoken and empathetic staff under the Creatives Department with the keen eye of a cinematographer.

The Cinematudlo branding creator have made short film school projects during her highschool era, and continued as the Director of Photography of the short film 'Buyog' in her college phase. Ann has also created contents online related to films, and has shown that people are cinema.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: 𝐗𝐀𝐅𝐒 𝐆𝐎𝐄𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐗𝐔-𝐉𝐇𝐒 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧 𝟮

On March 14, 2025, the XU Junior High School Crusaders Photography Club, in collaboration with Pixel Creatives and Crusader Yearbook, gathered in the classroom for an insightful workshop on the basic elements of videography and its impact in storytelling. The session was led by Meckhan Tagarda, Interim Director of the Xavier Ateneo Film Society.

Initiated by Sir Earl Judd Sullano, Moderator of the Crusaders Photography Club, the session explored: the difference between photography and videography, the principles of angles, framing, and motion, as well as the subconscious ways in which audiences absorb information through deliberate psychological and communicative influence.

We thank Sir Judd for the opportunity to be invited to continue spreading the significance of cinema. We thank the participants for engaging with the discussion, and we would also like to thank the rest of the Moderators —Sir Christian and Sir Neil—for their continuous support. Let's continue moving forward, one frame at a time.

The Re[frame] branding creator, Fran, has led the Creatives Department passionately, paving the way for the film crusaders to a growing vision, creativity, and design thinking—with magis.

We celebrate Fran as she continues to expose the significance of the role of graphic design in filmmaking—that there are more colors in the city of golden cinema.

She is known for her work in the local film industry and has received recognition for her films. One of her notable works, “Desilya,” won the Golden Giant Fish Award for Best Film in the Main Competition of the Cine de Oro Film Festival IV; 'Desilya' also won the Best Film award at the 21st Mindanao Film Festival.

Her dedication to exploring memory, space, language, and feminist themes through her films is truly impressive. Toni's passion and talent continue to develop the local film industry, paving the way to the vision of a city of golden cinema.

Today, we honor the remarkable Ela Figura, one of the talented filmmakers of the city. Her contributions to the cinematic arts in Cagayan de Oro have left a lasting impact, particularly with her debut short film 'Ang Pagputol,' which captivated and amazed horror enthusiasts.

We also commend her collaboration with the Xavier Ateneo Film Society in the 'Cinematudlo: Experience Reel Cinema' screening and forum, which further showcases her dedication to the cinematic community.
