Recognition doesn’t always reflect who worked hardest, cared most, or made the fewest mistakes. Timing, visibility, access, and what people happen to understand all play a part...amongst other things.

Somebody else being recognized doesn’t take anything away from what you gave, what you created, or what you’re capable of receiving.

If recognition does find me, I want it to find me for something that genuinely represents who I am. 💖

Yesterday, I did an Ask Ashlili Q&A post on FB and got hundreds of comments. Then the DMs started rolling in and I began getting questions people didn’t wanna leave in the comments section for everyone to see.

I’ve actually had this idea for a while now but just never got around to actually doing it. So here we are, I guess. It’s finally happening 😳 haha

DEAR ASHLILI is basically an anonymous advice column for the questions that feel too private, personal, complicated, or messy to ask publicly. Just a heads-up, though...this isn’t for those who only wanna hear what they wanna hear. If I feel like a little tough love is called for, that’s what you’re getting hehe. 😇

THE COSMIC LAW OF CHANGE implies that you can never fully understand something through historical data alone, because whatever is generating that data is changing too.

Even if you have YEARS of information, you still have to keep asking:

IS THAT STILL TRUE?

People change. Preferences change. Beliefs change. Patterns change. Relationships change. Systems change. What was true 5 years ago, 1 year ago, or even a few months ago may no longer accurately represent what is true today.

Historical data is useful. Just remember that whatever you’re trying to understand may already be changing.

Some food for thought. ✨
