This morning, a member of the born-again Christian denomination messaged me, expressing inspiration from the content on this personal page. Intrigued, I began asking him about his encounter with God. To my amazement, he shared that during his teenage years, someone gave him a book—'The Great Controversy' by Ellen White, which profoundly impacted him.

I extended an invitation to him for an online Bible study and prayer session. Please whisper a prayer for both this precious individual and me as we commence our online Bible study journey.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐄𝐯𝐨𝐤𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬?

Do you remember Peter and Paul proclaiming the Gospel and defending its integrity in an era of polytheism and pagan superstition? Literally, hundreds of thousands of ordinary believers were infiltrating every aspect of society, and 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨 that evoked curiosity in the Christian message.

They devoted themselves to sacrificial acts of kindness. They loved their enemies and forgave their persecutors. They cared for the poor and fed the hungry. In the brutality of life under Roman rule, they were the most stunningly different people anyone had ever seen. Indeed, their influence was so surprising that even the fourth-century Emperor Julian (AD 331-363) feared that they might take over the empire. Referring to Christians as “atheists” because they denied the existence of pagan gods, and believing their religion to be a sickness, he penned this directive to his officials:

𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺].

Julian was concerned that the Christians’ acts of hospitality and philanthropy were winning too many of his subjects. He decided to launch an offensive against them by mobilizing his
officials and the pagan priesthood to out-love the Christians. He decreed that a system of food distribution be started and that hostels be built for poor travelers. He wrote:

𝘐 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘦𝘴 ... 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘎𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘴 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘱𝘰𝘰𝘳 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭, 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘶𝘴.”

Perhaps not surprisingly, Julian’s new social program utterly failed. He couldn’t motivate pagan priests or Roman officials to care that much for the poor. He failed to realize that the Christians were filled with the Holy Spirit of love and motivated by his grace. The message they shared—that God loved the world—was patently absurd to the average Roman. The pagan gods cared nothing for humankind. And yet in the miserable world of the Roman Empire, the Christians not only proclaimed the mercy of God, they demonstrated it. They not only fed the poor, they welcomed all comers regardless of their ethnicity. They promoted liberating social relations between the sexes and within families. The nobleman embraced the slave. They were literally the most surprising alternative society, and their conduct raised an insatiable curiosity among the average Roman. You can see how the proclamation of the gifted evangelists would have been far more effective among a society of people 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨.

𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐚 𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐚𝐧, 𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫. 𝐀𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐲 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲

Hi, it's been a while, and now I am back. I have something to tell you if you have time to read this.

Since 2020, amidst the pandemic, the Lord led me to digital evangelism, where He molded me into the person I am today. Venturing into this new realm of ministry taught me invaluable life lessons. I learned how to moderate social media accounts, delve into email marketing, conduct online Bible studies, offer prayers for others online, provide pastoral counseling, and much more. To be honest? At first, it all seemed trivial to me. I prayed earnestly for God to help me see the beauty of this ministry and the preciousness of the souls I encountered online.

The journey wasn't easy, but the Lord was gracious, guiding me through this unfamiliar territory. He showed me the significance of the spiritual content we create and the impact it can have on the lives of those who engage with it through comments, likes, or reactions.

Speaking of those who interact on social media, to some, they may just be digital personas, but I realized they are human beings too. They feel and react because they have emotions. From then on, every time I engaged on social media, despite my human weaknesses, I endeavored to influence for good (BTW, for those who know me, if I've posted or engaged in a way that may not be good for you or others, forgive me and pray that God will transform me completely.)

Reflecting on my experiences in the digital space, I've found joy in connecting with people online—offering online Bible studies, praying for them, providing pastoral counseling, and exploring more ways to serve them online.

In recent weeks, I've been pondering and questioning God: Kumusta na ako ngayon? Is my work here enough? If not, what else should I do? Then, God impressed upon my heart the need to be more intentional. I asked Him how, and then...lo and behold, an encounter with a particular social media post caught my attention. It featured someone selling a book—the Desire of Ages. And I thought, "Wow, that's amazing."

That night, I had a dream. I found myself in a dark room, with a faint light illuminating a book in the left corner—the Desire of Ages. To cut a long story short, I began reading the Desire of Ages online. While reading, a question emerged in my mind: Why not share this book with others? And so, my journey as a Literature Evangelist or LE began.

Yes, you heard it right. I prayed and committed myself to sharing more about God and His love through our literature while spending most of my time online. Yes, it's beneficial for my daily needs, but above all, it's my way of expressing gratitude, offering praise, and doing God's mission to others.
