It’s ! Feeling a little adventurous and trying something I never had before.. it’s horse meat sashimi called basashi! 🐴🥢🇯🇵 😃
Well, it’s different, i don’t particularly like it or hate it, it is tender with lean texture but surprisingly not gamy and it’s not too different from a beef or tuna.🙃
Is eating horse meat common in your country?
In Japan, raw horse meat is a traditional and nutritious delicacy called Basashi (馬刺し), particularly popular in regions like Kumamoto, where it's nicknamed "cherry blossom meat" (sakura niku) for its pink color. Served thinly sliced, it is typically eaten with condiments like soy sauce, grated ginger, garlic, and wasabi, and is considered a high-protein, low-fat delicacy. While unusual in Western cultures, Basashi has a long history in Japan, particularly in areas that historically raised horses.
