The WCC Aeronautical and Technological College โ North Manila celebrated World Teachersโ Day with a festive, retro-inspired event titled โGroovinโ Back in Time: A Teachersโ Day Celebration.โ The program was filled with music, games, and student performances, all dedicated to honoring the institutionโs educators for their hard work and unwavering commitment.
Hosted by Avegail Zamuco and Jairo Lat, the celebration opened with a prayer led by Ptr. Lester John J. Evangelista, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and the ATC Hymn. Campus Director Mr. Edric C. Torres, MACM, delivered his opening remarks, emphasizing the indispensable role of teachers in shaping the nationโs future leaders and commending their dedication to molding the next generation of aviation and technology professionals.
The programโs entertainment segment began with a lively performance by the Airmovers alongside selected faculty members, setting a cheerful tone for the afternoon. This was followed by the first game, โIyugyog Mo Po, Maโam/Sir,โ an interactive dance challenge that filled the gym with laughter and applause. Energy continued to rise as the judgesโMaria Eleonor M. Solis, MBA; Elsa T. Creencia, MBA; and Campus Director Mr. Edric C. Torres, MACMโwere introduced, marking the start of the much-anticipated โPasiklaban: Magpasikatโ competition.
The first half of Magpasikat featured captivating performances from various departments, including the SIHM, CBA, CEATโAMT, CEATโAVT, and the College of Criminology. Each act showcased creativity and humor, earning admiration from the crowd and judges alike. An emotional audio-visual presentation followed, paying tribute to the tireless dedication of teachers who continue to inspire students every day.
As the excitement continued, Game #2: โIpasok Mo Po, Maโam/Sirโ kept both participants and spectators entertained before the second half of Magpasikat resumed. The next round of performances featured students and faculty from SHS, CEATโAVT, CEATโAMT, and a powerhouse ensemble from CAS, CITE, and Psychology Departments. Their passion and stage presence brought an infectious energy that perfectly captured the spirit of the celebration.
Before the awarding ceremony, the audience was treated to a special number by the Aerosonics, whose performance further lifted the celebratory mood. After careful deliberation, the Senior High School Department was declared the champion of Magpasikat, followed by the Aeronautical Maintenance Technology (AMT) Department in second place and the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Department in third.
The celebration concluded with heartfelt closing remarks from Dean Lersan B. Del Mundo of the College of Information Technology and Arts & Sciences, who underscored the importance of gratitude and unity between teachers and students. As the final applause filled the venue, the event stood as a testament to the institutionโs commitment to celebrating its educatorsโnot only as mentors but as pillars of inspiration and growth within the WCC ATCโNorth Manila community.
