Heo Narok (or Haew Narok) Waterfall is the tallest waterfall in Khao Yai National Park, Thailand.
It has three large tiers, and when the water is strong, its deep, constant roar explains why its name translates to “Gateway to Hell.”

The waterfall is located in the Nakhon Nayok section of the park and is best visited during the rainy season, when the flow is at its fullest.

Getting there involves a steep walk down a long staircase, but the surrounding forest and views along the way make it a meaningful journey rather than just a destination.

In 2019, Heo Narok became the site of a tragic wildlife event. During heavy rains, a group of wild elephants from the same herd were swept into the river near the top of the waterfall.
Several elephants fell, and at least six were found dead below. Later reports suggested that as many as eleven elephants from the herd may have died.
It’s believed some fell while trying to help one another...a heartbreaking reminder of both the strength of nature and the deep bonds elephants share.

Visitor info:
Park hours: generally open daily from 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Waterfall visiting hours: usually 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Entrance fees (Khao Yai National Park):
Thai nationals: 40 THB (adults) / 20 THB (children)
Foreign visitors: 400 THB (adults) / 200 THB (children)
Vehicle fees: charged separately at the park entrance
