The "Crowding the Cordillera" poster highlights a critical reality: our mountain city is reaching its breaking point. While it was never designed to hold over 500,000 people, it is now ranked among the top ten most populated cities in the Philippines.
This overpopulation forces residential buildings onto steep, risky slopes, leading to visible urban decay and the loss of our essential forest cover.
The resulting environmental degradation and infrastructure strain don't just ruin the view; they increase the danger of landslides for everyone in the community.
To save what’s left of our natural heritage, we need to push for better zoning and sustainable urban planning immediately. It is time to protect the carrying capacity of the highlands before the damage becomes permanent.
