Here’s a cozy Tuesday story for you, straight from Mount Hass 🥑🐱
The Hass Family of Mount Hass
On top of the biggest avocado in the mountains — yes, the one our hiker climbed — lived a little cat family.
There was Mama Miso, who was soft like avocado cream and very wise. Papa Pesto, who had a big fluffy tail and always pretended he was a brave mountain lion. And their three kittens:
Toast, the eldest, who wanted to be a hiker just like the human who visited. He wore a tiny leaf as a hat.
Pit, the middle one, round and wobbly, who thought the giant avocado seed was the moon and tried to roll it every day.
Guac, the tiniest, who was green-eyed and giggly, and could hide perfectly inside the moss growing on the avocado skin.
Every Holy Sunday, the family would do their ritual. Mama Miso would climb to the very peak of their avocado-mountain, look out at the misty valley, and say a little blessing for all the hikers below.
Then Papa Pesto would tell the same story: "When I was your age, I once tried to climb a mango!"
And the kittens would gasp, even though they'd heard it 100 times.
That afternoon, after the human hiker waved goodbye, the family discovered something new left behind — a single yellow wildflower on their doorstep.
Toast tucked it behind Mama's ear. Pit tried to eat it. And Guac fell asleep right on top of it.
And they all purred together, warm on their green, bumpy mountain, as the sun set over the real mountains behind them.
The end.
