Hope is rising with the continuous push for House Bill (HB) 2369, which seeks to increase the bed capacity of the Bicol Medical Center (BMC) from 1,000 to a landmark 2,000 beds.
​Following a recent hearing by the Congressional Health Committee, Congressman Nelson Legacion met with the BMC Medical Center Chief, Dr. Ronnie Gigantoni, to discuss the significant benefits of the proposed legislation.

​🏥 The Impact of the 2,000-Bed Capacity
​According to Dr. Gigantoni, the approval of HB 2369 is expected to bring immense improvements to patient care and the healthcare system in Bicol.

The anticipated positive changes include:
✔️​Increase in Medical Personnel: The hiring of additional doctors, nurses, and other essential medical staff.
✔️​Acquisition of More Medical Equipment: An upgrade in necessary modern medical devices and tools
✔️​Construction of New Facilities: The capacity to build or expand needed health facilities.

In a recent week, Congressman Nelson Legacion demonstrated a strong focus across three key areas: national infrastructure, social welfare, and judicial reform.

🚧​National Infrastructure Crisis (Andaya Highway): He raised awareness about the poor conditions of the Andaya Highway, arguing it contributes to a national economic crisis. He plans to invite key government officials, including the DPWH and DOTr Secretaries, to personally experience the difficult bus ride to compel immediate repairs.

👵🏻​Universal Senior Citizen Pension (HB 2370): His principal-authored bill, House Bill 2370, seeking a Universal Social Pension of P1,000 for all Senior Citizens, was approved at the committee level. This measure aims to provide universal financial support to the elderly regardless of other pensions.

👩🏻‍⚖️​Judicial Reform (HBs 2362 & 5548): To ensure a faster justice system in the Third District, he authored House Bills 2362 and 5548, which propose creating additional trial courts (RTC, MTCC, Family Courts) in Naga City, Calabanga, and Pili to decongest dockets and expedite case resolutions.
