Being part of Bistro Group, one would get the idea that their target markets are the mid to high-end diners. We tried and liked Texas Roadhouse and TGI Fridays but were disappointed by Las Flores, so we went to Denny's Estancia Mall branch with an open mind.

Initially, we went to Denny's to try their All Day Trio promo worth P375, but while ordering, we overheard the guests beside us discussing about 50% credit card promo. Having Unionbank credit card myself, we took advantage and ordered A LOT πŸ˜πŸ˜‹

Pros and cons:
1. Really nice place, with tables and chairs exuding high-end vibes but still very welcoming and light.

2. Even their bathroom is well decorated and huge (male/PWD restroom) and a wash area outside. They have bidet too!

3. The staff are very helpful and approachable. Several staff members helped one way or another, but Rose, who was assigned to our table, was really accommodating and jolly!

4. The food is a hit or miss, though. And considering the price, one would truly feel the disappointment when you pay the regular price. We ordered several things, so let me list the good ones first:

A. the Supreme Bacon Cheese Burger P595 was tasty and juicy, but I'm not sure if it's worth that price.

B. We loved the FREE appetizer bread and butter (next to Texas Roadhouse) and are glad they refilled ours when requested. They provided free brewed coffee (hot and cold), too.

C. My son loved the Mickey's Magic Creamy Milkshake P285 and Chicken Chomper Kids Meal P295 (southern fried chicken and spaghetti with toasted bread).

D. I and my son liked the oreo pancake with vanilla ice cream P180. It's not too sweet, but almost feels like a dessert.

E. Dulce de Leche cheesecake P195 was also creamy and delicious.

F. The Tropical Summer Salad is just ok. It's definitely not worth P295 despite the big servings.

G. The creamy bacon carbonara with poached egg (P295) is also bland and meh.

H. We didn't like the Caesar Salad at all, despite the additional parmesan cheese they provided upon request. It's just bland and uninteresting.

I. Most of all, we were disappointed by the Pork Belly Crunch 2pcs P565. Looking at their menu, I was expecting it to be good since they dedicated a whole page to truly highlight it in their menu. But it was just bland and ordinary. I've eaten better versions from simple restaurants not charging P565.

In fairness, their food presentation and big servings (they were using huge platters to serve solo orders) are commendable.

In the end, it was still a great experience because we got to enjoy these at 50% off. There are many other offerings we can try next time.

We've been meaning to try out Borro at Scout Borromeo QC, and we finally had time this weekend before going to the movies. It was overall a great dining experience!

Pros and cons:
1. Really nice place! Great interior designs for all 3 floors. The 1st and 2nd floor had open-air lanai seating areas in addition to air-conditioned mirror-walled main dining areas. The 1st floor has a darker vibe despite the mirror walls, while the 2nd floor has a lighter vibe. The 3rd floor, I think, is meant for events.
2. Most dishes are for sharing. And if you follow us, you would know my family eats a lot. But somehow, we we're not able to finish all our orders. It might mean their portions are really big.
3. They have great food presentations. Everything looks eye-catching, instagram worthy and huge, and just a feast to the eyes.
4. We ordered mango-shrimp salad, creamy truffle pasta, boneless chicken, and dulce leche cheesecake. The pasta is really creamy and tasty. We requested extra parmesan cheese, and they provided. The chickens are huge with a big bowl of gravy, bread, and coleslaw. We took home 1 and a half chicken because we were so full. The salad is on the sweet side, though, and might turn off some. After a while, it grew on us. They did not skimp on the ingredients with lots of fresh green and clean lettuce, crab meat, shrimp, sweet fresh mangoes, and caramelized walnuts. I suggest they don't caramelize the walnuts anymore because the sweet mangoes and sweet mango sauce plus the caramelized walnuts are just sweet over sweet over sweet.
5. They give tasty bread and butter for an appetizer while waiting for our orders. But the orders did not really take long. Maybe 15 minutes in and everything were served.
5. So many staff who can attend to your needs. They are very accommodating to our every request, including warm water, parmesan cheese for the pasta, and a different dressing for our salad. They gave us free vinegarette.
6. Accept senior and PWD cards.
7. We stayed on the 2nd floor, and their bathroom are small but clean. Separate stalls for men and women and a separate washing area. Very nice interior, they uses high end hand soap and tissues even for the bathroom, and they clean it almost every time someone uses the toilet.
8. Limited parking space in front of the restaurant, but they do offer valet parking. I just didn't inquire if it will cost anything. I saw a lot of parking attendants so I'm sure they could accommodate.

Tips:
1. We went around 2 pm, so there were unoccupied parking slots.

We will definitely come back. We'd love to try the Thai salad or Caesar Salad as well as the seafood marinara and baby back ribs.

REVIEW during our day stay at Oceanica (formerly South Palm) Resort in Dumaluan Beach, Panglao Island, Bohol

Pros:
1. Not as crowded as the Alona beach
2. Dumaluan beach is better than both Alona and Doljo beaches
3. Long stretch of fine white sand and great sunset viewing albeit not a direct view as we would've hoped for.
4. If you are to order in their restaurant, you can have free access to the beach and their exclusive seats.
5. Delicious pizza and sandwiches.

Cons:
1. Encountered a few trash in the sea :( including plastics, tetra packs, etc.
2. So so drinks
3. So so pasta
4. Far from main hub with rough road area.
5. Expensive tuktuk
6. Expensive menu
7. Beach is not as deep even during high tide.

Tips:
1. There's option to also use the pool but there's extra fee
2. Research about the high tide to get a better swimming experience
