| A Facebook post made buzz after photos of the "Morning Way to the Fields" monument at the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture - Main Campus surfaced in its new and striking color, now sporting what some netizens call an โalbino skin.โ
According to the security guard at the main gate, the statue that sits by the very portal welcoming the loyal sons is simply undergoing repainting, which will act as the primer for the second coating. The landmark that proudly stands in the Heart of Bicolandia is not a protest against corruption, as some jokes from the students suggest, but part of CBSUAโs effort to preserve and keep the monument in its best condition.
The monument, unveiled on October 12, 2010, during the 1st Charter Anniversary Celebration of CBSUA under then-University President Atty. Marito T. Bernales, Ph.D., is more than just a university symbol. It is a tribute to all Bicolano farmers who tirelessly toil the land with passion, dedication, and hope to put food on every familyโs table. As inscribed in its marker, Bicolano farmers remain the universityโs inspiration in pursuing excellence in agricultural education, research, extension, and production.
Fittingly, yesterday was World Farm Animals Day, a reminder of the vital role animals like the carabao play in the lives of farmers. Just as carabao tirelessly helps till the soil and bear heavy loads, the monument stands as a tribute to the enduring mutualism between farmers and their animal companions. At the same time, it reminds the youth with willing hands of CBSUA to build from the ground up, train the mind, and embrace the love of toil, symbolizing both the deep roots of the century-old university and its enduring commitment to nurture its legacy.
