In a part of the Pampanga River near Candaba, Pampanga, journalist Kara David highlights the resourcefulness of local Kapampangan communities. Most of the people living in the area are farmers, but when the rainy season arrives and the river rises, many of them also turn to fishing to earn a living and provide food for their families.

For many fishermen, the rainy season can make fishing more difficult because rough and rising waters can prevent them from going out to sea. In this part of Pampanga, however, rising rainwater can actually create an opportunity. As the river swells, fish become more abundant, allowing local farmers to make use of another skill: fishing.

In the video, David watches as local fishermen retrieve a net that they had placed in the river the previous day. As they pull it from the water, they discover several large fish, including carp. Their catch demonstrates how the community makes the most of the natural conditions around them.

The scene reflects the resilience and adaptability of the Kapampangan people. Farming and fishing serve as complementary livelihoods, allowing families to adjust to changing seasons rather than depending on only one source of income.
